What did you do to your deuce this week?

Thanks to the help from many SS memers and eriks military surplus I was able to take apart one of the tires on my a3 and as of right now it is holding air!

Flushed the coolant today, and then attempted to fix the heat distribution box in the cab. Oiled the pull wires and I can now open and close the damper and switch between cab heat and defrost. Although there seems to be very little difference between cab and defrost

Took a nice drive through the country with a friend and enjoyed the fall colors. Great thing about the deuce is I couldn't hear her blabbering over the hum of the truck!

Installed my new LED Headlights.

Had power steering installed. Can't wait to drive it.
Next is lockers from OEM front and rear, they should be here in a couple weeks.

I almost turned the fabric on the driver's seat from green to brown. I was chugging up a gravel trail on the crest of a ridge, loaded with about 3 cords of wood. Some logs were dry and light, others were a bit heavier. So, right about the time I'm in 2nd low, about 150 feet above a hairpin turn and the engine dies on me. I was fortunate to have good brakes that held me in place. I let that in-tank pump run for about 20 seconds, then coaxed her back to life, and used the hand throttle to take off and pull the rest of the hill in 1st low. After about another 2 miles of hills and curves, with a bunch of engine surging, I pulled off at the bottom of another steep hill and checked the filters.

Plenty of stuff dripping out of the drain valves for the secondary and final filters, but nothing out of the primary filter. I climbed up into the engine compartment and took the primary loose with some slip-joint pliers, and found the usual crap clinging to the sides of the filter. Below the filter was the big surprise. A couple inches of "goo" was down in there, which was promptly dumped out. Filter back in, fired right up, problem solved. She had plenty of power after that.

p.s. I may or may not have been overloaded. I was hard-pressed to find a truck scale up in the hills.

First a friend and I pulled the axle shaft of the driverside rear and fixed the leak. (piece of cake!) Then i took the truck to the car wash to clean here up. Brought her home and installed the pyrometer (also a piece of cake!) then i installed some decals i ordered for the truck. all in all it was a good sunday!

Brake light switch

When i drove to work and Lowes last friday i noticed that i had to be very hard on the brakes for thebrake lights to com on so sunday i checked the air pressure switch on the brake booster and found that it came onat about 75PSI. Then I adjusted it to come on about 25PSI. Now i don't have to almost lock the brake to have the lights come on. My switch has an adjustment on the back center.

My brake light has been sticking after pulling away from a red light. I wonder if I can turn mine up and fix the issue?

Well I put a stater on it and replace a couple of cracked fuel return lines. She fired right up and took her for a drive around town. It felt good to get her started again. Thanks to Glenn for the starter.
