Hi guys,

Looking on the napa site, there is more than one radiator for the chevy k5,
why go with the 2098 when there are less expensive ones?
It is because of the core size difference?
Also, what is the stock radiator core size for the M1009?

I need a radiator too, but cannot afford $400.00 some odd bucks...

Ii just got a pair of rewound 200A stator coils for the OEM alternators. LEHR auto electric in Sacramento. So now double the available 24v power for charging etc... New, $152 each without a core, Kept old ones - still have just in case of a problem in the future.
HOWEVER.... after running this for a while I discovered that the rectifier (the finned thing) needs to be upgraded as well. The Diode trio is ok - same part number used in both. About $29 for the heavy duty rectifier - can't find the part number but if you get it for a Delco 27SI Isolated ground 200A alternator it should be the right one... Or call LEHR - very easy to work with.

Lots of good info on this thread about high output alternator options and radiator part numbers with prices. Hope my post shows up in a search when I need one of these :)

Thanks skysix, I was watching to see how your upgrade turned out. I had a sneaking suspicion that the bridge rectifier would need to be changed out for a higher amperage unit.

If you get the part number for the rectifier please do post. I would like to know if it is the part from the 27SI Type 200 or not.

Did you ever get the upgraded alt bench tested? I'm curious what the final maximum output is on this upgrade. Sounds like an easy way to get that left alt. pumping more "juice". :-D

BTW, to get back on the OP's topic, I am also in favor of rebuilding the stock alternators, as has been suggested several times in this thread.
