Swap meet question... I plan an bringing a lot of stuff to setup and sell, I also want to do most, if not all of the trail rides, Can I just leave my stuff out with a "be back in __ minutes" or maybe a sign with my cell ## ???

Reminds me of Ray Lee's Blue Light Lounge on PDL in Atlanta.

Yeah, I'm not even going to that neighborhood. If there are any of those "signs" within 5 miles of a hotel, I'm not staying there. Another bad sign is any bar with the word "Blue" in it, next door or nearby. Blue Lagoon, Blue Rodeo, Blue Monkey.....any of those are bad news. That's experience talking right there.

You probably could but the sign needs to say hours, not minutes. Leaving a cell number would be nearly pointless as you have virtually no service on the trails.

I plan on selling some things also and do a few trail rides with my kids.

I'll be covering up my stuff with some plastic tarps when not there and at night. Good to have something just in case it rains too.

Official Notification. 20 (twenty) days remain. If you shove $100 a day in your piggy bank, you will have a good supply of spendin cabbage. Ifyou save a dollar a day, you will have right at enough to eat 3 squares for 2 days at the MKT.

I am taking the M813, Duece and M151 to Claxton Saturday for a Boy Scout campout, so I have my trucks checked out and ready to roll for the Rally. All I will have to do is top off fuel, load boiled peanuts and grits and roll out.

Boiled peanuts......mmmmmm....mmmmmm......A true southern delicacy.

Poppop has the range on Boild peanuts.
Any Yankee that won't try at least one will be drenched in Wreckerman's famous (or infamous if you are not a southener) sweet tea and ridden out of town on a rail.:naner::naner::naner:

I hope Poppop makes a HUGE batch of salted boiled peanuts (I'll pass on the spicy ones)! When I get started on eating them, I can't stop. Worse yet, my wife and daughter love them more than me!! I wish the Rally would hurry up and get here so I can get my fix, er, fill of peanuts. I also wish the MV elves would come out at night while I sleep and finish packing and prep for the 1000 mile trip.

This just in. On Oct 8th, there will be a lunar eclipse. This is where the moon passes thru the earth's shadow, and will turn blood red. Looks like the big field at Durham Town will be an excellent site to view this wonder of nature.

I will also keep up with the ISS, and see if there will be any flyovers during the rally. It will also give the ham radio folks a chance at hearing the ISS on 2m.

The sign would probably work pretty good. I can say that so far this seems to be a real honest group of folks and most of the vendors are a fairly close knit group. Normally when I bring stuff to sell, I leave it with a vendor I know and I tell him what I would like to get for an item. If he makes a profit over that and they sometimes do, it's theirs for the keeping for "babysitting" my items.

I don't think you can beat the vendors I've seen for honesty and for going the extra mile trying to help a potential customer.:goodjob:
I've never had a t-shirt or any trade goods go missing. Since we are not open to the general public the only rif raf at the rally is the in house rif raf and they are honest if somewhat strange.

Now that being said you do not want to leave any homemade cookies unsecured since there is an old bear with a sweet tooth that will make midnight raids. I'm not mentioning any names but............. :papabear:
