Will the MT654cr live behind a 350 Big Cam. This is saying the driver is sane and not 19 years old. Ok, I'm going to be 66. LOL I know the motor has more HP and torque than it was build for.

Something like a 5 ton. 17700 to 20100 lbs. Pleasure.

Also is the MT654cr a SAE 1 or SAE 2 bell-housing ?
SAE2. It will be fine handling the power. My 5 ton weighs 27,000lbs in its normal mode. My trailer weighs 11,500 plus whatever im loaded and they do fine.

So it looks like the 855 was built with SAE 1 and SAE 2 bell housings. Now can a 855 with a SAE 1 bell housing be swapped for a SAE 2 housing ?

Just so I have it ? I have a 350 BC IV (325hp) with a SAE 1 bell housing. The truck has a 855 non-turbo with a MT654cr. All I need is the bell housing, flywheel, from the non-turbo 855 and install it on the 350 BC after removing the SAE 1 bell housing and flywheel ? +- the balance of the flywheel.

You will have to fab a different front mount. Big cam motors have differences than a small cam. As well as any turbo may not clear the hood.

I called the local Allison /Detroit shop in Tulsa and talked to the lead mechanic. which happened to be a man of 25 years experience on the allisons alone, he told me the MT 654 was rated well below the power/torque curve. I asked because I put a 400 big can III in my 936A1 wrecker, and I was wanting to know if it would hold up to the power and not to mention the weight....41,000 pounds. I'm happy to report so far so good! another thing I will add is Cummins rates the HP at the flywheel, not at the wheels. there is a big difference. Caterpillar rates there engines at wheel horsepower! which is how it should be!!!

OkieM1008, you have a photo of the tran's cable to throttle control ? Or how did you make the kick down cable work ?

Thanks, Randy
