Howdy all been noticing quite abit of discusion lately of antenna mount on the back of the cabs of the deuces so I thought I would enclose some pics of the one on APOC! It was on there when I bought her from the auction and I am looking for a matching unit and antenna but one that will work with a GMRS radio and CB. I would like to maybe Put a portable ham in later on in life if I get the funds and liscense. So if you got questions or need anyhting give me a buzz. Captain

RE: Deuce Antenna mount!!

Yea it may be wishful thinking about finding a matching unit for my GMRS radios, I may just put one up there for show then put the correct antennas for comms somewhere else.

RE: Deuce Antenna mount!!

I saw them same set up on some of the deuces around here but they were putting them in the front passenger leg holder...the one that is right next to the exhaust stack, which to me looks a lot better but thats just my 2cents... ;-)

Consider this:

That mount is already high in the air. Now add an antenna to it... Your gonna hit some overhead electric wires, and well, while theoretically the antenna should be able to take the voltage............
I mounted mine on the front fender, the height is much lower and I havent hit any wires...

Thats a RAWLs light mount for the orange light on the M35, but thats a cool place for an antenna for some applications, personally I wouldnt put that there , too high , you would have to 90% bent your antenna forward to drive under stuff and if you had a cargo cover with bows

I put mine in the side today and it looks 100 feet tall now LOL

Hey bulldog you got close ups of the way its monted you can take. Mine has the coaxial cable runnin from it. You reckon the Mount can be used for both lights and antennas?

Also I dont know if this makes a differance but one of the last times my truck was on Active duty it was over in kuwait for the beginning of the Iraq war, I have the shipping labels to prove it be located there plus the nifty cheesey turtles Camp Udari Turtle on my passenger door. I will get more pics of the cables but it looks like standard coax with the twist on ends that would hook up to your ant. connection on a ASIP or the power amp.

It seems emmado's been holdin out on us apparently he has the TB's on the subject, I was reading a older post I found on the web ( man I need to learn how to cut and paste links on here )
and he has the goods!! Well man spill!! SO is the pole behind the cab SOP for current units or is it thats what they used in the desert for "greater line of sight"? And can the same mount be used for both lights and matching units like we were discussing above?

I havent been holding out on anything.. The TM's are on the internet and some are here..TB 11–5820–890–20–8 The mount that is pictured, thats the 100% correct as per the TM going back 10-15 years way to mount the antenna.. My opinion on them, it puts it up WAY TOO HIGH... Might be good for open land, but in the urban jungle or other developed areas with overhead wires, it's not so good..

The convoy light mounts are different, as they can be extended.

Im sure some mechancially inclined person could figure out how to mount both on the pole if they wanted....

AAAHHHHH see I knew you knew something heheheheheheheh!!!! rofl

TM numbers and everthing, thats good training. Yea your right like we discussed earlier even the lil trucks hit stuff with antennas up. May have to rethink my plan. The main reason for this post was to show folks what they looked like cause I read a couple in the last days that sounded like things bolted up behind the cab of the trucks and it sounded more like these mounts so here we are. Thanks for the formal info.

Thats the base mount for the Rawls light/convoy light with a scoop for antenna on the side. The light sits on a pole that goes inside the mount. That slides in and out with a pin locking it in place.

It makes alot of since having that on a truck far away for good commo , but yeah its almost worthless in town
