Has anyone done the trans radiator / engine bypass to reduce heat soak?

Started the M1088 at 14 degrees F. Block heater definitely helped. Started fairly easily. Likely to add oil pan heater.

Someone posted a trans temp chart, indicating the negative impact of higher temps to the trans. Sounds like a bypass might help in warmer ambient temps to reduce the heat soak from the engine. Has anyone done this?

I tried to start mine when we hit mid-teens.

The starter was froze up. Everything was froze up. I went back inside.

It's not supposed to do that down here.

Stupid frozen windfarms and snow-covered solar need to get ripped out of our grid and replaced b7y new fossil-fired plants.

I was at the beach today. It was 80...

on a vehicle with external coolers, yea that might be a good thing...

Isn't that what the 5 tons do? With the second cooler?

I think the issue he is talking about is residual heat from the bottom of the rad possibly adding heat to the trans oil. If the engine is 200F then the trans is 200F as the aux fans don’t kick on until the main fan does at 205F.

I guess another way around this would be to put the aux fans on their own thermostat set at a lower temp than that 205F engine fan switch...
