okay here we are end of July 2022
MEP-804 is running like a top!! I change the oil and filter every 200 hours or so, now we are at 1600 hours
Why?

Because our 20+ year old solar panels were doing basically nothing.
I fixed all that! Finally found a good deal on some solar panels, 24ea Sunpower 318 watt lightly used for $3000 delivered.
So far I have 12 panels mounted and working, 8 feeding the main battery bank, legs 1 & 2, with 4 feeding the small Lifepo battery bank leg 3.
So far with some sunshine it is working, no more diesel in the summer or when the sun is out! PHEW! I still have 8 more panels to replace.......... then we should really be soaking up some sunshine.

Anywho I have the AGS and will be installing it before the snow falls. Crappy thing is after the $600 auto generator start was delivered from Green Mountain we LOST IT! Misplaced the package for almost 6 months! I was not happy, I figured the box was tossed out with the trash? had looked everywhere! Planning to order another one, $600 down the drain... then one day I found it!! BOx was sitting in with some construction supplies, thank goodness!!!

Also planning to finally build the generator "shack" to keep her out of the weather.

I was previously instructed by the very patient "Guy" to hold the S1 in the full right hand crank position for 4 - 5 seconds AFTER the engine starts. He was correct...this will clear up some of these faults that sometimes occur at start-up. It seems to be "a characteristic of the beast" for some of these generators. I had a low oil pressure fault on my MEP-803A unit at start-up. Holding the S1 in the crank position momentarily after the engine started would eliminate that fault. You can't hurt the starter because the engine speed sensor will kick it out when it reaches a specific speed. (Not sure what that is) I recently purchased a couple more of these units at auction. (I buy them, repair them, service them and sell them) One of them had a new alternator on it, but it was not charging the batteries. After doing some trouble-shooting I discovered that one of the wires was on the wrong terminal on the back of the alternator. Easy to fix, but it still would not charge. I then discovered that the F1 fuse was good, but one of the solder joints was broken on the back of the fuse holder. I repaired that solder joint and all was good. 28.8 vdc charging voltage. It pays to review the information that has so graciously been provided for us here on this forum. If your still confused just look at the very detailed schematics that are on the inside of the access panels on these great machines. Have a cup of coffee and relax. You will be amazed with how simple these machines really are!

Interested in knowing what would cause the Hertz gauge and volt gauge to go to "0" when S1 Switch released from Start position, is there a latching relay that maintains that connection or somethin else. just had this issue yesterday, unit has been performing fine until yesterday and was using it all day the day before. Weird !!!

It would be good if you start your own thread. This one is old and 7 pages long. When someone opens it up, and it starts at page 1, well, thats a lot of reading, to at last get to your problem.
