The passenger door latch on my deuce does not stay latched. To shut the door you have to pull the door shut on the inside, and lock the door sometimes that does not work, as you go around a corner the passenger door will fly open. Ithink that there is a broken spring in there, but I do not know to get it out to take it apart. I have tried to get in the TM on this sit but my dial up is T O O S L O W ! I recently bought the last right side door latch that saturn surplus had, The same thing happened to mine, the little spring on thr latch itself broke. I know TNJ murry has them, I think around 60 bucks!

It is a lot easier to replace the latch with the window glass removed. Even then, it has to be twisted just the right way to come free. You will need to unscrew the inside handle and the 3 screws holding that part of the linkage along with the I think 4 screws that hold the latch itself on the edge of the door.

Use an expandable magnetic stick or one of those flexible 4 finger parts grabbers to help you out. Since you will have the glass out, go ahead and put lots of grease all over all the moving parts inside the door. The window rolling up and down with just a finger push and the door opening with ease sure improves the driving experience.

I'm not sayin your way isnt the right way, But i changed mine without removing the glass, and only used a phillips screwdriver, took me about 15 minutes to change the whole latch assembly

Took me 10 minutes friday night to change them out and put spring in and back in the door. your spring has broken and i looked at all the parts houses they laughed none of them no how to use a book any more its a shame all the good parts men have gone by the way side . its all about money any speed to lazy to use a book pity. I am Docfarmall and thats my 2 cents

RE: Re: RE: Deuce Door latch

Funny, the drivers side door on my truck started doing this over the weekend......problem with mine is the latch button wont pop out/engage, feels like the spring broke.....no tension on the door handle at all.

I've had to do this on a few of my trucks. I didn't remove glass. Just unscrewed the access panel and the philips head screws holding the latch assembly in place. Window was rolled up of course. Took about 15 minutes max.

I was fortunate as my most recent acquisition of 3 trucks had belly boxes full of things. Among them were several new in box door latch mechanisms for both right and left sides. Imagine that.

Wear long sleeves! That lip at the door access panel can be very sharp. I'd bet more than one of my doors around here have spilled blood in them.

I got the spring replaced. I found out that I needed a longer, and skinner arm! It took me about 30 minutes to get it done. Now I do not have to wrap the seatbelt around the door handle to keep the door SHUT! FTG2 Wiggles USS EDSON DD 946 1968-1973

Do you know if the parts will swap over. I don't have in front of me to look a right now but I'm thinking it would be upside down if swapped to the other side. What would you want for it shipped to elizabethtown, PA.

I was Ebay the other day and C&C equipment/Clint digger has a "store" there and is offering new door latch either side for the same price. He's out of Indiana if you do a search for M35A2 parts on there.

This must be a seasonal thing. My driver's door started doing this a couple of weeks ago. Anyone know if a M37 door latch would work? At least the spring?

my drivers door does the same thing, it is very annoying. Can the parts/ springs to fix this be found at napa or lowes?

So with the door still on and the window rolled up, i take the access cover off on the inside of the door and i can completely fix it from inside of there?

Anyone have a link to the tm/ pics covering this?
