My father in law and I are meeting Mark (mkcoen) there around 8AM and he's going to help us get it going for that long sloooow drive back to Houston.

Here are some pics from my recovery today. A big thank you to Mark for getting me started! The rain really sucked, especially when the driver's side windshield wiper arm came apart! I swapped the passenger side arm to the driver's side and everything got better. More rust on the truck than I expected, but mechanically perfect - ran strong all the way home.

congrats on the recovery. I like the hardtop.... dont worry about the rust that happens when the military paints it green like magic. I like the truck... any plans in the works or is she staying stock?

Cool truck. It doesnt look to bad in the pics. Just clean it off and hiy it with a few cans of spray paint to keep it from getting worse, It doesn't have to be perfect. The truck looks good and if it made it all the way to Houston without any major problems I would guess it probably runs good. The last couple of trucks I got from Ft Sam looked worse than I expected but both ran alot better than I expected.

Fort Sam is the oldest Army base in Texas. They have a structure called the quad Triangle which was an out post to fight Indians.
My home town.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I plan on keeping it stock for now but I may bob it at some point in the future, I got my paid in full invoice yesterday for my m105a2 at Hooks, so I'll be picking that up the week after Christmas! I haven't driven it locally yet, need to fix the turn signals and air horn first, but everybody I tell about it wants to know how to get one. I found some liquid phosphoric acid in gallon containers at Home Depot yesterday, so today I'll be treating surface rust and painting those spots tomorrow.
