I would take one of the U-bolts off the truck with me (or from a donor) to my local heavy truck shop (such as Fleetpride) and have them make up a set of new ones... The local shop here in Raleigh charged me something like $50 last time I had a set made up (four bolts with washers and nuts...) and they did it in about fifteen minutes (including my talking to the guys...).

You've got too much riding on them to reuse old, stretched, bolts.

that was my plan, we have a shop here in gainesville, I sorta though it out for other opinions

Well I can say I have had a couple close calls with tires but nothing like that. I am glad to see that your ok and the truck is not a loss. PB that was darn good of you to trailer that beast all that way. Wish I would have made it. Next year for sure.

Folks...lets not forget the recovery was a team effort...and most MV recoveries end up being.

Two young fellers (who asked to not be named) took up a collection for fuel money from most...if not everyone at the rally at the time. They handed it to me in a plastic cover and insisted I take it...so I said Thank You. Didn't count it...no clue how much was there.

Zout and I talked and we decided (after a few snorts of "Hooch Water") to give the money to Ron...so we did.
Ron gave some or all of the money to Troy and Tony for helping him out on about a 6 hour mission.

Again...let me say it was a team effort...by an outstanding team...of Steel Soldiers

I must have missed it, but which part do you think initally caused the failure, and your attempt at a Private Pilot's lisence?

BTW, up here, we had a huge problem with the U-bolts on our MLVWs. They were all grounded until they were replaced. No inspection, just across the board replacement!

That really put a huge kink into our operations. At that time I was just a Private, untrained (mainly)!

Front tire popped sending him off the road into a ditch at highway speed (as in M819 highway speeds)

When the lady told me I went airborne and that I did some fantastic driving to keep it from rolling, I told her that It WAS GOD driving because after I hit the dirt at the end of the left culvert, I was not the one driving, I TRULY BELIEVE THIS, and I did have a talk with him after the the seat cushion hit the ground.

What is an OTR equivilent to the 1200 x 20 or what ealse can be used in place, can a radial (if so what size) be used on the front and ndts on the rear
