I think those are technically called armored cars, at least traditionally. Wheeled Light tank was the OLD term in the early days of WWII.

If you watch the you tube video that Ryan posted earlier you will see several shots of RHINO South African vehicles I saw them in Iraq and Afghanistan doing de-mining work. There is also a few video clips of the wierdest looking anti mine vehicle the buffalo that has remote arms to reach out and work on de-mining. The work is progressing in Afghanistan because it is one of the most highly mined areas in the world. The Army is helping people around the world and things are going better in both Iraq and Afghanistan than the politicians and meadia have been saying. We loose more Americans to violent crime in our cities than we loose in the current operations and no one mentions that is occuring in the democratic stronghold blue areas of the USA map

Have a blessed Thanksgiving and God bless you

Good friend of mine was in Iraq EOD. His last mission they took a direct IED hit under their RHINO. It blew the back axle off rung all their bells with a couple bleeding from the ears but all survived. He swears by them but never sent me a picture of what the thing looked like before or after.. What a going hom party!! Very glad he was not hurt.. :p

I like the Vietnam gun trucks better. The modern ones may work better, but they just don't look badass enough...

Here is a Livermore gun truck kit
From the looks of the trees in the background, and the driver/crew, I'm guessing this truck is not in theater?
Let me dig out some of my pics from OIF, and I'll post up the gun trucks that we had. They weren't nearly as pretty.
The most maneuverable and effective, direct fire vehicle for convoy escort on the main supply routes was the HMMWV with a .50 cal. mount. It could get to the problem quick, and it had speed. They flipped a lot. The MK-19 mounted, wasn't worth poo. At least not for our missions. We up-armored some 915-A1s that beat the crew half to death. Bob-tailed 915s are brutal. At one point, we built a "gun-trailer" that we pulled with a 915. It had fire-power, but you couldn't get anywhere in it. It was placed in the middle of the convoy for heavy fire/security when stopped for break-downs. The giant HETs hauling Bradleys up north with the crews inside were awesome! Especially when there was a string of them rolling through. Total coverage fire-power.
