Hi guys. I've been doing quite a bit of research on this as a friend of mine just brought home a 71 Deuce. Its a hardtop with heat but not power steering.
I like the idea of the bob with 49's. HOWEVER, this truck is going to spend a lot of time in mud pits and I'm curious why the change to a 4x4 when we already have a 6x6? Why are we purposely loosing an entire driving axle?
The idea was to move the fuel tank up into the bed, and then shorten the truck about 3 feet moving both rear axles forward and into that new space i've opened up. This would give us a short 6x6 and we'd run the 46" tires on it that are the max for a stock deuce.
I want hubs on the front so i can easily drive it on the road without spinning all the tires BUT could i also put a set on one of the rear axles just to make it a bit more manueverable?
I have some pictures of my idea that i got from a truck for sale on ebay but, naturally, they are not on this computer.
