Feedback - CUCV

Since a few people have taken some cheap shots (Insults) becasue I have asked a few questions that may or may not have been answered years ago or whenever, I have decided to post this and in the CUCV section since most of the attacks are CUCV related.

First, I apologize I am not an expert about CUCV's like most potray themselves as. I am not a mechanic. Second, I am not here to "Scam" anyone. Last, I apologize if I, like others have, asked a question that may or may not have been discussed before, or may not have been found because it was NOT searched exactly as said.

Getting publically insulted for misplacing my key and called names for doing so is a little overboard. What's next slamming my wife, my kids my dog? I have six kids (One newborn - pic below), 5 cats, 5 dogs, 2 businesses and try and run a non profit life saving organization and I assure you the last few days, I must have had a few hours of sleep. As it turned out, my 5 year old daughter Logan, put the key in her pants and it came out in the wash when I was washing their clothes. She said she was worried I would get mad she put it in her pocket.

I have decided to no longer repsond to hostile or condensending remarks. Not only is it a waste of time but a waste of energy.

I am here to network, get help, get answers and if I can help others too?

I may be the new kid on the block but still, attacking someone for seeking out answers or sharing info, not to cool.

for those that I have personally spoke with on the phone or via email or PM, it is a pleasure meeting you, for those I have not, I would love to make contact for whatever reason if we can share info or resources. For those that have been following my posts to insult, well whatever!

Please take this post as my introduction and not to attack or cut down anyone. LIFE IS TOO SHORT.

As my introduction:

I live in Reno and in San Francisco. I own a few HMMWV's and a few H1's and an H3. I also own a few M1009's and a few trailers (HMMWV). I have 6 kids and am married to a lovely wife. I just had a baby girl. I own and run a few businesses in SF and run a volunteer nationwide organization in SAR and other Emergency activities.

My goals are to acquire 4-6 CUCV's as well as 6-10 HMMWV's all for a special USAR team I am trying to put together for a West Coast response should a major earthquake occur or other natural or man made disaster should occur.

My intent on SS is to network, make new contacts, answer questions and offer any help if I can (I doubt it because everyone on here seems to know more about CUCV's than I do) but hey you never know.

Anything else you would like to know please do not hesitate to email me at nvrescue@charter.net or PM me here.

Thank you.

Well actually someone did slam your wife in another thread

I'm not gonna take any cheap shots, but think of it this way. We get tired of answering the same 30 questions. A quick search will do you wonders. Your time is no more precious than ours.

I agree, no, I said whats next slamming my wife.......It just seemed that there is no limits to the insults.....I try searching, i figure if someone quickly knows the answer, they will provide it.....if people are tired of answering the questions, don't answer and move on......typing a insult is more of an answer than either linking the answer or typing it........Again, no bad intentions here....

Mr. Kaplan,

On behalf of the entire Central American Chapter of SS, I welcome you.

I have not read all the abuse you claim to have received, but believe that due to your posting this thread that your skin is sufficiently thick enough to secure a place in the rank and file.

Carry on and remember to bark back at the hyenas.

I personaly search every time I have a question about something and most all the time I'll find that someone else has had or is having the same deal. There is tons of info here.

I personally try to understand that we here are not all coming from the same point of veiw. There are those that like to point out a mis spelling, of course the pix issue is the other one. Some times I think some of the commints are ment to be taking light harted. Maybe its ones way of being funny. I take and give alot of $#!t at work and most everyone that is not use to that situation would be apalled at the way we "comminucate".

I'm not familer with your posts because I'm usally here to get it done and not to surf. But I saw your post and just had to post.

There are no reasons what so ever in my opinoin for flat out insults of any kind. But I do have a saying "if you give it you better man up and take it too, without needing tissues"

Yea I know I need to use spell check but this time "sod off" (you know who I'm talking to)

I beleave that everyone has something to offer to this site but being put off is a loss to all of us.

Welcome from another newb here on SS.

I think things mite of got started out here on the wrong foot, yes some things were said back and forth and people got mad, but you gotta look at it from the senior members point of view, new members come here all the time. some with a good heart and a love for this hobby and some that just want to scam using this site. Which one of these two people you are will depend 100% on you. Since ive been here i have learned alot and reading the forums and searching almost always answers any questions about anything i need to know. There are ALOT of good folks on this site more than willing to help you out after youve looked and cant find the answers you need. I hope im not steeping out of my boundries by making this statement but i believe this site will function alot better if everyone gets along. So i say, If your a sincere MV'er, lets bury the hatchet here and forget bout it

Once again welcome from central PA

I think that 21 threads started in just a few days is a bit excessive and shows one of two things to be true. 1) you have no idea how to use search. 2) you are attempting to get to the post limit so you can jump into the classifieds. Pesonally I feel it's option 2. A quick search of your name on the web will also quickly reveal that you have been banned from a number of sites due to abuse of their classifieds or as some members have stated on those forums, you scammed them. Now I will not take the low road and address everyone else here about you,I will address you directly. Laurance, how do you explain what is said about you on all the other forums? Explain yourself and maybe the membership here will welcome you, if not I can't say I blame them for bringing out the flame throwers.

Response

go to www.pmdfailures.com

Which I have not posted this year here (I forgot if a long time ago I did). I took on a cause and still am (Have attorneys working on this as we speak) and posted this in various sites. MOST people appreciate that some didn't and attacked and banned. Nothing else to explain. I can't really go into details about it since I have 4 attorneys working on this now and all I can say is I am going after a serious safety issue and from my posts in various sites, probably got over 500 people that emailed me saying NOT to stop and keep them in the loop and if they need my support they have it.

I have never had an accident but when I had my kids in the H1 going down Geiger Grade (Windy, steep narrow two lane road with cliffs) the PMD failed and I came about 2 feet from a head on crash since my steering, brakes and acceleration went out from engine failure from PMD failure. Something about that made me pissed off, especially when it is a KNOWN issue with the manufacturers yet they still sell the cars and it happens to be over 500,000 vehicles. A fix is not replacing the pump but to solve the problem. The second stall after a NEW pump within weeks from NEW BULLETPROOF PMD as they claim was enough when I almost rear ended a prius going down a steep hill (One and one half lanes) with three kids in it (Neighbor too)! Relocating the PMD did work for me but not only is it NOT reccomended by Stanadyne, it does not meet Emmissions for relocating an electronically controlled emission device.
GM, AM General and Statandyne all know about it but cannot fix the issue and hope time goes by.

That my friend is what pissed off some and pleased others and after this post, I am NOT going to be making other posts regarding PMD or issues with Stanadyne. I will only stick to our vehicles that happen to be military. I would hate to start a war over PMD issues here.

If you research further you will see everything was over the PMD issue and you will also see people posting about my wife and so on, even one about my kids, so I am a little sensitive and will not apologize for that. In fact my little one is right next to me right now.

Thank you for asking and asking for my side. There you have it. PS: I received phone threats, threats of violence in emails and other things from my PMD mission. From being a cop, 95 Bravo and other security type jobs, personally I was not worried but I have a family and it went to another level.

I also did not care about those sites too much as I do this one. I already have made about 10 new contacts, all of which I plan one day to meet in person.

Feel free to email me if you want more info.

Thank you again

I will be away from computer, am taking advantage of bad weather and will be working on the latest CUCV placing a "Golight" on it, changing out gauges, and maybe even mounting our emergency equipment console in it. I may even replace the batteries and tray and try and install optima mounts. Are yellow tops better than red tops or visa versa for a CUCV? Anyone want to help?

.....I try searching, i figure if someone quickly knows the answer, they will provide it.....if people are tired of answering the questions, don't answer and move on......

The sad part is some people can do nothing but say "do a search". That's fine but how about adding a hint like "try searching for 'this phrase' or 'that phrase'" to help that person narrow down the search? To add insult to injury there's one mod in perticular that's real quick to respond with "use the search feature, it's been asked before" yet has also asked basic questions himself that could have been answered by reading an FAQ. It gets me how it's okay for him to ask "simple questions" yet will slam a newbie in a heartbeat for doing the same thing. Talk about double standards. I know the mods here have a tough time trying to keep this site running as well as it does and I appreciate those that do so with patience and fairness. But if you watch long enough you will see that each mod has their own way of doing things.

Anyhow, seeing as how just about every question that could be asked has been over the last several years if everyone were to say "just search it" the forums would get boring real quick. :D

Hate to say it but like it or not you have gotten more attention then you might have wanted and the PTB will be keeping a closer eye on you. So the best thing you can do now is keep it clean and prove the naysayers wrong by showing you are an asset to the SS community and not the scammer they think you are.

As I seem to recall you have your "hot wife" posted on the net. You also posted a pic of one of your kids in a thread. Doing that would make the thread, on the outside, appear as though it contained a worth while pic, when in fact it doesn't. You also made sure not to touch on the point about the number of post. To me that appears as though you are trying to avoid that, or as you stated hoping enough time goes by, so we will forget? I was just trying to give you a chance to explain a feww things. I don't see any site banning anyone for posting a safety issue. Some things in life really are black and white. This is clearly one of those times. There is no need for 21 new threads in a few days. Unless you are trying to gain the ability to use the classifieds. If that's all you wanted here, just say it. No shame in that.

I've had both and both of them held up just as well. The yellow tops are supposed to handle being discharged further then the red tops so it will depend on how you plan on using them. Just be careful because if you discharge them really low when you start your vehicle up you could overheat the alternator as they can absorb a lot of current in short order.

The last set I had (when I had an M1009) was a set of yellow tops and they never let me down in the cold temps of Alaska. :)

Unfotunately, while communicating in numerous PM's with Will (Moderator) he said I need to build posts up which I did. If that offended anyone I apologize, I considered it mis communication and even spoke to Chris (Owner of site) about it and spent a long time on the phone with him. No excuses.

Classifieds: Sure I have two posts I want in classifieds. No lie there but as you can see, I have several CUCV's and HMMWV's that I am building up so mainly I am seeking info too!

No harm or offense taken asking me if I want a classified ad!
