We have crossed into Ohio (still enemy territory but there are some good folks here) and are trying to get through Chicago before morning traffic on Monday....it will prob be a long night...we only got a few hours sleep last night.

Murphy only reared his ugly head once today.....someone locked the keys in the Surburban (hint.....blond hair) but with the help of a Slim Jim and special New Jersey skills we were back on the road soon.

Now that we are on mostly flat land the M816 can stroll.

Here are some more pics taken by me and Cabell.

I can't wait to hear the logistics of this move. Was everything moved at one time? How many trucks? Were all trucks Ziggy's? This is monumental for a collector.

:? I am probably too late by now, but I am in NE Ohio (see sig), right on I-80. Good luck and be careful.
Congrats to Ziggy.

Oh, and is it possible to leak a list of trucks in this convoy? (I don't wanna read 7,000 pages either...)

Looking at the logistical support from the fueling station, looks like it is some kind of municipal or State org supporting the mission. Perhaps a well connected museum or Nat. Guard or something.

Other than folks lending a hand or truck, this is all Ziggy O's stuff, right down to the Caprice escort sedan. Quite an undertaking.

Hm, red and blue light bar on a deuce. Must be so they could make some good time in traffic! :driver:
I am sure it has happened elsewhere as well. Some of our rural fire departments had converted GMC 6x6's for fire engines. They would run red lights and siren down the Interstate to a car fire or injury accident. It always struck me as funny that a vehicle that was having a hard time maintaining the minimum speed limit was running red lights and siren. People on cruise control were running 40 mph faster than the fire trucks and not speeding by much. Glen

From the perspective of the MV Hobby and the SteelSoldiers "gang", this thread is documenting and EXODUS of BIBLICAL proportions. One day, when the details are declassified, we will all have a better understanding of it all. For now, we must simply have the faith to follow their lighted path and NOT wander in the desert for FORTY YEARS.

The convoy is headed for their SECRET DESTINATION, known only by it's codename: THE PROMISED LAND.

So.... Let the dogs bark! The caravan moves on....

If they get to the Mississippi River, and Wreckeman holds Elmo up to part the waters, I'm gonna CRAP !

Welcome to another episode of "Where the Possum Turns".

Today we made it into Iowa....we stopped at the Iowa 80 (the largest Truckstop in the world).

Had a decent meal and did a little sightseeing.

Murphy was conspicious by his absence today......we made good progress and the trucks are running great.

I am having some issues with my bad knee but managing to maintain.

It has been a while since I covered territory like this.....I quit driving a truck in 2002 for reason.

All in all it was a good day and we should reach the promised land tomorrow afternoon.

Here are some more pics for your enjoyment.

"Promised Land by tomorrow afternoon" means Elmo is not likely coming as far as Cheyenne Wyo. on I80. If my assumption is wrong and Elmo actually makes it that far, the MVCC (Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado) have many members within 100 miles and many of those are equipped with tools and talent. If Elmo gets that far west and needs a hand I am sure someone will be able to help.
