Probably would be faster but I'd be worried about chewing up the frame with an angle grinder. With the oscillating tool you can set it right on the edge and it won't scratch the frame. You can feel when you get through the layers too, not sure you'd be able to feel that with a grinder.
Yes, cut from the inside. You'll cut the entire perimeter about 1/4" deep, then heat/peel that layer off. Repeat the whole process one more time for the next layer. Then finally the gel layer that you pull off with the vise grip.
I used a wood/plastic straight blade. Going straight down...
Finally got pictures. The white stuff is the gel layer that melted/oozed out when cutting the edges. If it ever warms up here for a couple days I'll get that stuff cleaned off, it looks like it'd be easy to pick off but it's hard as a rock!
Of course I didn't, I was so excited it was working I never thought to take any pics  I'll take some pictures this weekend though, I didn't use any black silicone on the inside edge to make it pretty so you can still see the layers that were cut out behind the frame.
I got the last gel layer off by getting it started peeling up in a corner then grab it with a vise grip. Roll the vise grip back with a slow steady movement and peel up maybe a quarter inch, release, repeat. Just do little bits at a time. If you get greedy or try to rush it'll tear and you...
Closest I've found is the TM for the 1114. TM 9-2320-387-24-2, section 25-35 shows the connections for the de-ice relay and circuit breaker.

Interesting side note, the relay is a 24v to 12v relay. Might be a convenient way to get...
Following this, I'll try to dig into the manuals later to see if I can find anything. I bought a used box last year and plugged it in to the three wires hanging by the windshield and it doesn't turn on. I assumed I just got a broken defroster box, never thought there was more to the system!
One more update.
It works! The bars protecting the brake rotors have to come off but the bars going back to the crossmember will protect the rotors. Speaking of said crossmember, the holes that mount those brake rotor protection bars are in a different location than the H1 skid plate holes...
I finally got to sit in the back and play video games with my kids
996 ambulance, had to take the kids to school yesterday and we got there way too early. I added a power inverter and TV for them. Also made new (much softer) seat cushions and added seat belts.
I put the ibis tek knockouts in mine. Both windows were delaminated and scratched on the inside, outside was good. Passenger side isn't too bad (yet) so I left it alone. Driver side I found instructions on this site and cut out the two inner layers so its just a thick chunk of glass. I used...
