New cable arrived and it's a very good quality cable from the feel of it.
Does anyone here recommend lubing the cable up with cable lube before installing it? Doesn't seem like it has that much lube on it from the factory...
I'll add that to my collection - thanks for the tip! I've been squirting that same brand's chain/cable lube down my cable but now I just hit a snag...
After removing the t-case bracket and frame rail bracket to let the cable dangle from the cab, I was able to feel with my fingers that the...
Will try that. I'm also thinking of rotating the inner spiral core in the direction of wrap to bust it loose similar to a speedo cable or weedwhacker - that might be easier than push-pull
Got my truck out of winter storage and smelled hot brakes on the 6 mile drive home. Didn't feel any braking action or rolling resistance and no smoke, but the smell was there. Park brake handle was released but the temp gun showed 180°F on the park brake when i got home. It worked fine when...
I finally finished the work on my curled over plastic battery boxes. I laser cut some 12 gauge stainless stiffener pieces and attached them with some aluminum solid rivets and an air hammer. I like how the proper concave bit worked with the rounded rivets and used a blacksmiths anvil on the...

From all I've read on here over the years, the cracking t-case in reverse is an issue with the T-1138 in the 939 5-tons and not with the T-138 in the 809 5-tons. This is because the 10:1 reduction of the reverse gear in the Allison automatic created too much torque for the T-1138.
Don't back up with the transfer case in low (no bueno for the t-case) and when you shut down the engine, shut off the engine switch first then after the engine is done rotating shut off the battery switch. This prevents frying the voltage regulator in the alternator.
The brace would lose some strength but it would also bottom out on the valve cover after deflecting downward 1/4"+ or so. Probably not enough downward movement to permanently kink and deform the brace.
Before I straightened my curled plastic, the cover would touch the cab and when I got the truck the spot welds on one of the L-shaped reinforcement layers on the corner were popped from what I assume was years of being under tension.
Were the plastic boxes introduced after production ceased...
