I decided to put a receiver on the front and back for an electric winch. Then I got the idea that I could also put side mounts on the airlift spreader bars. I have not designed the side mounts yet but that lead me to the conclusion that rather than hard wire all the locations, I made a welding...
I had a few different electrical gremlins on my '96 AO. Marker lights and headlights flickered, trans shifted to neutral when the headlights were turned on and a few others. Some problems were constant, others appeared at random. In an effort to eliminate some basics I started with cleaning...
Just an FYI
I accidentally replaced relay K52 (ctis overspeed) with a 4 pole relay. The controller and dash overspeed lights did not light but the CTIS functioned normally (including overspeed automatic override).
Mine is the black controller. It functions perfectly other than the overspeed indicator above 30. I'm not sure if the speed sensor on the trans was ever changed.
I did have rough shifting when I bought it but that was cured with a new and calibrated throttle position sensor.
Just want to be clear. My system will automatically adjust up in all the lower settings as appropriate for overspeed. While in Hwy mode, reading overspeed above 30mph, it maintains 55 psi at the tires.
Hope I didn't confuse things
My 96 1078 does the same thing "flashing overspeed" above 30 mph, but the system functions perfectly according to spec. 14 @emrg, 20 @mud/sand, 30@X/C. "Highway" above 30 flashes "over speed" but the pressure remains 55 psi at the tires.
Probably a bug from updates? I have the original WTEC II...
I used this the other day to open my 1078. Use a wood wedge to open the top rear corner of the door. Insert the wire ring, string and aluminum tube. use the tube to steer the ring to the unlock knob and "set the hook".
Good Fishing!
1078 camper
This was my first answer to adding a camper. Only time will tell if it's the last. I used plates on the trailer wheel hubs to lower and attach it to the bed. It uses the trailer suspension there and is hinge bolted at the front. It takes about a half hour to disconnect and remove...
Procedure is in TM 9-2320-365-20-3, chapter 10. Spindle nut is torque to 50, loosen 1/4 turn, torque to 10-20,then adjust shims.
Cover bolts are 35-50 lb/ft.
Don't skip the nut and shim adjustment procedure. Use the manual.
I just finished a complete front axle refresh. Was not as hard as I...
Thanks, I had both front wheels off while repacking the hub bearings and adjusting hub lash. I had checked the tire run out before disassembly. It was about .325. It was about the same after cleaning the rim and indexing the tire on the rim.
I took the opportunity to install 24oz of ball...
I'm looking for a shop that can do tire truing/shaving for 395/85 20's on my 1078. Ideally on the truck. I'm in southern MN and have not found a shop within 300 miles. I know they're out there I just need to make the right connection. Please reply if you know of any shops at any distance. It...
Anyone know the torque spec for the u joint cap bolts? My manual is updated to the "torque to yield" bolts and the joint I bought has the older standard bolts.
While greasing I noticed that the bearing caps on my rear output yoke are loose and can slide back and forth in the yoke.
Anyone able to explain how this can happen? The cap covers are, and always have been (during my ownership) tight.
I'm sure the original shaft has been replaced with the...
How about replacement of the seals during inner bearing re pack? I don't see any signs of leakage. I usually change all seals involved when i take apart a hub.
Is that a wise choice or overkill for just a repack of the inner bearing?
