CGarbee,
Definitely makes sense for you to go local if you can. Good luck at the auction.
Just my own knowledge, let's say this truck was local to you, what would you think it's worth given the unknown on the engine? Just trying...
Of course, I'd take cash too if someone came up with an offer that would be reasonable (just enough to get a small, old working dozer/crawler/track loader). What's this truck worth given the information above? I really don't know.
The problem with the rental is that I need it for about a month or longer. I have dirt arriving daily from the local power company.
They are putting it new very large transmission poles, and are going to bring several thousand yards. The rental for this would be enormous.
On the...
I really, really, really hate to do this, but I need a small, working dozer/crawler much more than I need the dump truck right now. I just got several hundred yards of dirt put on my property, and I found out today that I wasn't supposed to bring in the dirt because I'm technically in the flood...
I went out of town after I bought it and just got back. I haven't had a chance to touch it since I brought it home. I'm dying to get out there. My Dad (a lifelong mechanic) is going to come over next week and help me. I'll post an update as soon as I get that engine turning over :)
It's no rust bucket for sure. Actually in great shape except for the fact that the engine is "seized". I'm pretty sure it's just hydro locked or just needs to be eased back into service (sat for 5 years). Only35K miles/1500 hours on the truck.
Guys,
You may remember my recent story of my M817 ("newbie got her home"). One item in that story was that the truck was advertised as a 1989. Not knowing anything about these vehicles, I assumed that to be correct. I purchased the truck in an online auction for $2,130, which most of you...
Not sure this is the right forum, but I couldn't determine which one would be right. Here's a 1959 5 ton 5th wheel trailer with a dolly in NW Arizona. Guy will even take payments. Less than 24 hours left. Too far away for me...
Texas has an exclusion for farm use. I haven't done it yet, but I'm thinking I'll go that route. As long as you are within 150 miles of your farm and are transporting goods to or from your farm, it's legal. I have three acres with goats and donkeys so I'm pretty sure I qualify as a farmer...
Guys,
I saw this on eBay. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. I'm fresh out of toy money though, but maybe one of you are ready for another project :D
