We accomplished your battery conversion today on our Brush Truck following your video to the T and it worked as advertised. Thank you. Cheesehead Dave. Crooked Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
When we push the Red start button the starter engages and disengages constantly (chatters). We can start it by bypassing the start system and jumping the frame mounted solenoid. we tried changing the starter relay with no change. Any Ideas?
Found a 5 pin relay in the K1 start relay slot. Should have been a 4 pin relay. Installed 4 pin relay and it fired right up with the red button. We also did the mod on the starter to bypass the starter thermal switch (P81). Drove the M1078 for an hour. Stopped and started the engine several...
Had problems starting our M1078. Bypassed red start button with another start button wired directly to the frame mounted start solenoid. After the first start, the thermal switch on the starter prevented additional starts. As suggested in a previous thread we tied the two white wires for the...
Red button would not start the M1078. Ran a separate start button to the frame mounted start solenoid. That worked until we ran into the starter thermal switch problem. We tied the two white wires together as suggested and that allowed the red start button to work again. Ran into the thermal...

Engine would not crank. Suspect neutral safety switch. Don't know where it's at. Bypassed by running a push button switch to the remote start solenoid. Works great, but would like to do it the right way. Where is the neutral switch located? Thanks.

Our volunteer fire department is getting a surplus M1078 to be used as a brush truck. We've ordered a 250 gallon slide in pump pallet for use on it. I'm wondering if the 12V system aboard the truck has enough amperage to operate a hose real and a 13 hp gas engine starter. Otherwise I'll have to...
