Fair enough. I was thinking that maybe there was a civilian version that might be easier to find. I'll try some more "Google FU" and see if that helps any....
If you are wanting to go with an electrical HVAC unit, I suggest that you consider the ones that are available on the newer Semi tractors. FULLY SELF contained, heat AND A/C, battery operated (4 DEEP cycles) recharge while you are driving/ idling, and work quite well in places like Southern...
Slang term, my friend. "Borrow"- re: To take/ use from a different source than was originally designed, i.e. The M/C is question, I thought might have been from a Civilian truck, such as a GM TopKick series medium duty chassis, and that you had "borrowed" it to use on your truck. That's all...
Thanks for the PSA, Mrmag1. I would be rather ticked off over that kind of garbage treatment, as well. This kind of customer service is the kind of thing that makes me question other products and practices of a company.
THANK YOU to both of you! *off to the basement, to fire up the mill*
Hey, Rustystud... what did you borrow the M/C from? A mid 90's GM Topkick, by chance?
Well. Other than adding a muffler, I just have the "original" style mess. How much weight do you think that you have added, and, I guess that we all have to wait for this, but, what about heat soak come summer..... I am originally from South of San Antonio, and I remember those...
Hey, rustystud. Quick question- If you are using the M/C like you have, then, a NON Air Force M/C bracket still works, yes? Since the overall height of the M/C doesn't change, correct?
Ours is called the "Dead Line Special", as it was effectively in a "dead line" when I found it. It is also known, affectionately as the "Zombie Deuce", since it has this weird multi- colored, peeling/ chipping paint job, and LICHEN growing on it in numerous places.
Nicely done, Bill W. I am doing the lower part of the cab to hopefully help with the afore mentioned issues as well. Did the dome light come with a mount bracket or that something that you fab'ed up?
Maybe try anchoring the winch chain to something and SLOWLY backing up, like trying to un-nest a come-a-long that some body cranked up too much? Once the cable unrolls past the "bite down", you would still want to fully unroll and inspect the cable.
Well, the insulation tends to cut down on the rattles, squeaks and heat in my Deuce quite a bit, so mine is getting replaced with old sleeping mats and 3M Pro series spray glue. YMMV.
I got to actually listen to a phone call with the truck running at arms' length from me, thanks to the newly installed muffler. While not as quite as a new truck, it IS a heck of a lot quiter!
I also added the missing inner fender pipe support hanger.
I took pictures of the LMTV mirrors that I installed on the Deuce last week, in case any body was curious about how they looked, and welded up the muffler to the exhaust stack, so that the factory top exhaust clamp still works as designed, and added the missing hanger for the J-pipe over next to...
Ah, Eastwood Company. How they have expanded my body tool collection! i have 2 of the spot welders (floor standing and the MIG into spot welder thing), Both are very handy around the shop. I also have the master pick, hammer and dolly set.
Well, the youngest son (17) and I spent the day tinkering with installing a Dynomax muffler on the Deuce, salvaging out a 1955 M54A2 for almost anything that looked like it would, could or should fit, including the ancient turn signal relay box that actually still WORKED!!! We also swiped the...
