What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

This reminds me of an old (maybe 20 year old) federal police box and speaker that were given to me. Back then I only had the Wyllis which wasn't a fit. This might work well on the slantback !

    2002 M1123 4L80E Strange Shifting

Yeah according to the literature, heat is well handled by the control unit and overheat should lead to errors flashed on the trans light in diag mode. I'm glad I've read this stuff and won't need it in the end (hopefully)

    2002 M1123 4L80E Strange Shifting

Just to confirm: the loose TPS was the cause of the odd and high shifting on the m1123! For once, I got an easy fix on a hmmwv ahahah I just rotated the TPS to the max toward the rear / against the throttle opening direction, which took literally a minute, took it for a spin, and could enjoy...

Does anyone know where to find a diagnostic tool for the 4L80E? I

Thanks Mogman. I actually read through it since, and got the info. But your help is tremendously valuable!

    2002 M1123 4L80E Strange Shifting

Thanks to your advice I took a look at the TPS today and realized that while it looked solidly tightened, it’s actually easy to rotate by a few degrees in both directions. It was getting late and dark, so I couldn’t get to the bottom of it but that seems to be the issue for my high shifting...

2 MAN soft top install... Looking for help or drawings/instructions...

That’s an interesting option I didn’t think about!

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

It took me more than 12h to change the water pump on a 6.5. I’m not a pro and not really equipped though. That same m1045 after a motor swap had a belt issue where both the steering and A/C compressor were poorly aligned, that seems to be a common theme with garages!

Does anyone know where to find a diagnostic tool for the 4L80E? I

I must be dumb, but: OK so we can wire pins A and E of the J2 connector, then what? I’m trying to figure if I could get to properly use the diagnoses capabilities of the transmission controller. RetiredWarhorse, I’m wondering about the snap-on tool you mentioned? Thanks!

2 MAN soft top install... Looking for help or drawings/instructions...

Nice truck! What’s your plan for the bed?

    2002 M1123 4L80E Strange Shifting

Thanks Mogman, I suspect something around the TPS, I’ll check the voltage indeed, thanks. I have a gut feeling some adjustment in that area will happen, though I don’t see what has changed to make the transmission behave differently. While I was doing the high-level check (I had less than an...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

The next step for this M1123 will be a hard roof (wondering wether I should source or build one) but now I need to figure some transmission issues - it shifts high rev as if it were full throttle all the time. This happened suddenly.

    2002 M1123 4L80E Strange Shifting

Interesting thread, I’ve experienced some off shifting issues with the M1123 for the past couple weeks, I checked all connectors by the TPS, checked the TPS impedance which looks fine (from 5k idling to 2k ohms full throttle) checked the connectors on the transmission and all looked fine as...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Converted the 4 man M1123 into a 2 man cab and installed half doors. It looked easier than it’s actually been. Doors don’t fit straight, locks are in a different location, So it took a bit of adaptation! This truck will be repainted sand in spring, so I quickly spray painted some matching...

    HMMWV Blue Force Tracker Setup

By the way, the using of a pelletier effect element for the CPU was a common thing (and may still be) when the ambiant temperature might be less than about 30 Celsius degrees below the throttling temp for the CPU. So in the current case, it’s not exceptional to hit 50C degrees in the desert and...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

IMO there will be more and more hmmwv for sales, and waves of good ones, as replacements pop up. If you’re looking for one, you’ll be able to find M1123s in excellent condition for less than $20K for quite a while. The best truck one can get for that kind of money. The growing challenge will be...

    HMMWV Blue Force Tracker Setup

Super interesting post that I regret to have previously missed! If you’ve seen my ‘anyone put an infotainment‘ topic in another forum (I can’t find it anymore) I’ve been working on building a computer for my ‘vees but with some I/Os so that I can get telemetry and signals from the truck and...

Mainsail - love the lock on the ammo can. Definitely something that will go in my truck!

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

I found the truck of my dream and have decided to clean the A2 to sell it. It’s been a fun couple days working with my kids to fix all the tiny little things that were in progress such as the headlights, fans for the AC that wouldn’t kick in, dead voltage regulator, etc. The halo ring on the LED...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Now that the tunnel (or whatever it’s called has been adapted to the turbo engine, I can mount a proper doghouse. Question: are there two lengths of these lockers? Thanks! The ones I have a too short for the new (turbo) dog house. The truck didn’t have a doghouse when I got it, and I had...
