Ladies & Gentlemen; it is here. I kid you not! The SF97 for my 2002 S&S M1083A1 is HERE. August 2021 until April 27,2022. Juts under 9 months. Hoorah, hooray, it’s a really great day!
Now to deal with NY State DMV. Oi vey.
Those solid “bearings” should have a spiral groove on them - the spiral channel / groove is supposed to let the grease ooze in to the entire bearingYou should knock out the cups (races) and replace them too. I bet they’re pitted something wicked.
If my memory is correct, the Army did away...
Check if the pulley is the correct one. You would be surprised at how many military mechanics will swap out a alternator/generator and use the wrong pulley causing it to under-drive or over-drive the alternator/generator.
I see that the Army had a couple of different carb models it used. I only ever saw that Zenith being used. It looks like there are even modern replacement available.
Those carbs were notoriously a PITA. I found that the Venturi would be a little loose. If you stuck your middle finger into the carb, while the motor was running, with your hand from the top so that your finger curled up, that flat spot disappeared. You could also feel that piece was loose...
That doesn’t look bad to me. Belts will deflect when under tension & they don’t deflect in unison. There’s a few ways to check belt tension - which will tell if one belt is looser than the other.
1) A belt tension tool
2) Straight edge and ruler.
3) String & ruler or tension gauge...
What do the belts turn? Check to make sure whatever they turn (alt / gen, water pump, PS pump) that the device is properly mounted and the outer pulley isn’t pointed inboard or outboard a bit. If the alt / gen (whatever) isn’t square or true then one belt will be tighter than another.
I need to clarify something. When you say it ‘makes no electric’ do you mean the generator does not put out of the engine alternator is not putting out?
