TM 9-8022 does not cover this stuff - it just covers maintenance and removal and replacement of components... Internal engine work / overhaul is in TM 9-8023-1.
Dennis, I have TM 9-8023-1..... The flywheel must come off. The seal retainer looks similar to the one used on the Multifuel engines...
Personally, I don't like the fact that some spin-on oil filters have bypass valves in them.... Why would you want oil to be able to go around the filter? How do you know when the filter is bypassing and when it isn't? What if this bypass valve fails? I like the Napa 1458 filters that...
Make sure you're using the correct oil - OE/HDO 30 (SAE 30) per the LO manual.... Most if not all of the people who have posted up that they have oil coming out their slobber tube, are using 15w-40 which is made from a less robust base stock and breaks down quicker in these older engines that...
I need an M34 / M135 wheel.... anyone who is going have one for sale? Shipping is a killer on stuff like that, and all the wheels for these older trucks always seem to be on the opposite side of the country.

You were right Bjorn!
I purchased a 3" gauge mounting cup from ISSPRO, model R7603, and moved my Turbocator gauge from under the dash to on the steering column. The gauge cup base has slots to mount it using a hose clamp, so installation was simple.
Here's a few pics of the new installation...
Very nice, clean truck..... CONGRATULATIONS!!! [thumbzup]
There's nothing like the excitement of bringing home that first truck... (note that "first" implies that there will be others!) 8)

Hi Group,
Who here is going to Tower Park? It's April 12-19 (Sunday to Sunday). It will be nice to say hello to some SS members!
I'm going up on either Wednesday or Thursday, and coming home Saturday or Sunday, I'm not exactly sure yet. I am driving my deuce this year, an 800 mile round...
I see..... Very cool!!! So it's been converted to have a motor on the back rather than use the overhead power? ....I thought those belt guards looked odd....
The instructions that came with the k-type thermocouple for my ISSPRO Turbocator pyro / boost gauge warned NEVER solder to the connecting wires of a thermocouple, they said to use screws and crimp-on ring-type terminals only. I don't know why...

That's awesome Dennis!
I need to do a lot of the same work on my V-18A/MTQ, and I've been working on it a lot lately.... Collecting tons of parts, removing anything not original.
Yesterday I removed the carburetor and exhaust manifold, as the carb needs rebuilding and the manifold nuts had...
Tom, another possibility is that the injection pump's fuel rate is not correctly adjusted. It's a simple screw to turn to increase or decrease the fuel, and it is generally agreed that is shouldn't be messed with (turned up) too much without a pyrometer, but I have seen several trucks now that...
I don't think you're gonna find a used transmission dipstick... Try an Allison dealer, or a military parts supplier - I Googled the NSN number for the dipstick (6680-01-397-7767) and came up with places, like ISO Parts, that make you fill out a request for quote to get the price... Maybe the...
