    My......wrecker.....

rofl You're quite a trooper FT, I'd have junked that cab and replaced it rather than do all that welding!

    Deuce oil.

BLKBRD... So you don't trust Wikipedia? Me neither, it was just an example of an article that explained that "W" means "Winter". How about Castrol? Would you believe them? They make motor oil, read what they say: Motor oil viscosity - Castrol Motor Oil W means Winter. To write "30w" in...

    Need FMTV Spare Tire Carrier

Have you tried ISO Parts? They are usually among the first results when you Google the NSN number for the part you're after. They may want crazy money for it, but it's worth a shot.

    Deuce oil.

No, that is incorrect. The "W" stands for "Winter". Here's a pretty good article that will teach you some of the basics of motor oil. Motor oil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Got it home !!

Try lowering the pressure. "TP70" for the rear duals, when running light, is ridiculous and can cause vibration. I'd try 40 psi in the rear... leave the front at 70. Jon

Air Actuated Transfer Case Conversion Kit on Ebay

I paid $80 for my kit from Front Line, it was a couple years ago but it's worth a call. WWW.FLMV.NET If they don't have it, shop around. $385 is a very easy price to beat. Jon

Best source for replacement seat back and bottom?

I am looking for both the back and bottom cushions for a deuce spring seat, preferably canvas and in new or like new condition. Anyone have a set for sale or know where I can get them? Jon

    Rear side exit exhaust.

There is a triangular flange on the pipe where it ends between the rear wheels, this is where the exhaust extension bolts on.... It was included in the earlier fording kits. The kit even included an exhaust flapper

    sprag case bad

You need the whole case, plus additional parts - the air toggle switch, bracket, pressure switch, wires for the indicator lamp, and some pipe, hose, and plumbing pieces. To internally convert a sprag case to an air shift case is technically possible, but difficult, and sourcing the required...

    Rear side exit exhaust.

The gassers and earlier non-turbo deuces had the exhaust come out between the rear axles, not in front of them.... Take a look at a -209 series parts manual 9-2320-209-20P or 9-2320-209-34P (either can be downloaded in the TM section here) to see what it looked like and see the part numbers...

Excellent. Thank you for that, Jim!

That's how I know him too...

    M818 'Suburban'

I think it looks good, but a personal peeve of mine is when a vehicle's construction doesn't match it's purpose or capabilities.... For example, there isn't enough cargo space to justify tandems in this situation. I think it would look better bobbed, it would have sort of a monster HMMVW look...

Guys I really made a boo-boo -warning carnage!

I assume you were missing the axe out of your pioneer tool kit? I'm with Freight Train.... There's no way I'd have left my truck alone. I'd have quietly camped out nearby, catching the thieves / vandals in the act. I'd probably turn 'em over to the cops rather than give 'em the Charles...

    stuck in mcpherson ks

Glad you made it back! The only way for engine oil and/or coolant to get into the air system is if your air compressor is clapped out.....

    Numb thumb !!

....beware of cracked steering wheels, too..... I'm careful where I put my thumbs, but thought nothing of a crack in the rim - until the wheel spun and it carved out a big curl of flesh like a scooper through ice cream. The steering wheel got replaced with a new one after that. aua

    Deuce oil.

This is exactly what I'm talking about..... 15w-40 is not a "heavier" oil. 15 is not heavier than 30. Look at the PS Magazine article Bjorn posted above. If there was any confusion in your mind about what the military wanted used in these trucks, that should clear things up for you. READ...

Adding brake fluid the quick and easy way.

Here's my solution... This makes it easy to check and add fluid.... The little valve closes off the reservoir, and the little cap next to it is then used for power bleeding with Kenny's (recovry4x4) bug sprayer power bleeder. Jon
