Many years ago I worked at a service station.
For you younger members, that's a gas station where the employees pump your gas, clean your windshield, check your oil, tires, wipers, & radiator. No kidding!
The guy I worked for was always looking for ways to make or save more money.
We had a...
I've been following this thread, because I've still got a winch I need to install someday.
Question to ACEHIGH: What's the corn head grease for? The winch?
I was there 1966-1968. I'm pretty sure all ours were gassers, built in the 50's.
But keep in mind, we had a LOT of older equipment. Marines complained that they got the Army's leftovers. Well SEABEES got the Marine's leftovers!
How many people do you suppose are out there, who would know or care whether your markings are original?
As long as it's properly registered, you're okay.
Well, I ended up working all weekend, so didn't have a chance to work on this thing.
The control panel on the shelter trailer is a lot different than that of an engine/generator-only unit.
As i said, it has an oil pressure sending unit, but no gauge. There is no "emergency" switch as liftman...
Beats me, Bjorn.
And why does it have an oil pressure transmitter, when it has no gauge?
And why would either of these connect to the AC generator?
How would a similar engine be set up to run something else? Like a pump or an ultralight?
We're missing something here.
If you can find a deal on two 120v to 12v converters, you can connect their output in series to get 24 volt. Just like connecting two batteries in series.
Just make sure the converters don't touch each other.
I use old RV converters in series to test my fuel-burning heaters. One is a 30 amp &...
Thanks guys!
I had tried disconnecting the white wire from the mag, assuming it was the "shut off" ground. When I say no spark, I mean no spark at the plugs.
Looks like I'll have to pull the mag. Supposed to rain all weekend, so I'll probably work on it.
Are there any other sources for points...
Trying to get the engine running in my M51 Shelter trailer.
Cranks fine, but no spark.
Questions:
1. There is a single white wire going to the magneto. Is that wire supposed to be hot when the engine switch is on, as in a distributor system? Or does that wire go to ground when the engine switch...
A buddy has an M817 that jumps out of low range. A mechanic suggested "it has a bent fork", causing the problem.
What do you guys think the problem is?
What steps would you take to fix it?
Suggestions are appreciated.
I replace or reline when I can.
But I have also used plenty of "saturated" shoes, after saturating them with brake cleaner & drying them thoroughly with an electric heater or out in the hot sun.
I don't know if it's a good idea, but it's worked for me.
Just found the manual on "Google books"!
The box I mentioned is an RFI filter.
I may be able to just bypass it.
There is also an RFI filter on the power lead to the electric fuel pump for the heater.
Anyone know where to find a repair TM for these things? I don't see it on SS.
Right now I'm just trying to get the engine running.
There is a sealed metal box, about 3X4X3, which buzzes when the engine run switch is turned on. What's it for?
Engine cranks fine, but doesn't start. Not drawing...
