A lot of info here. Welcome to the site! Beware ther are a few out there that will give you negative stuff about bobbing and non-original modifications, but its Your truck and mine is mine to do what I want with. If you search all of this and the old site you will find all the info either way...
It doesn't get that heated often, don't get discourged with us as a group, most here are pretty open minded and and enjoy the hobby in all of its forms. Personally I'm trying to fix my first one to represent a Vietnam era vehicle. My next one might be a bobbed one with refrigerated beer box on...
I remember reading that but had forgotten since mine is not yet on the road. As little as I start mine now and probably in the future, I probably go through the manual and creat a laminated check list for start up and shut down like pilots have untill its ingrained in memory and to educate...
The main points have all been addressed. When you buy anything you buy it where you buy it because of a few factors. Price, percieved value, convienance and sometimes a longstanding working realationship with someone. These days it starts at the beginng of my list, 25yrs ago it was the other way...
On the same subject, is it OK to post links to post links to suppliers that don't advertise here or aren't members? I posted some I had found, but in retrospect, what have they done for us. I know I found some of them here, but not all.
I agree with the operating costs, a friend of mine charter/leases them with about a dozen in all parts of the country. I also know of a guy here in Louisiana that bought a surplus one and was planning to use it for his Helo instruction(OH-58) and found out there were restrictions on the...
I'm just it throwing out there, but if it sat for a about ten years without being run it may have had more surface rust in that cylinder than the rest. The humidity where I live is very high and has a bad effect on any engine that sits. Mine looks to have been rebuilt about 15 yrs ago, and...
I thought I already did one for Tim hosting the first LA Stee soldiers rally. If I didn't, here it is. THANKS TIM! I think it was great for him to offer up his place to have and actually do what it takes to make it happen. These events don't happen unless someone has the vision and puts forth...
Frodo seems like a great Guy as did all the members I met at Tim's place for the LA rally. I would have him bring one to the rally if I wasn't so broke that weekend. Glad to hear.
Ken,
I think I sent you this in an e-mail. I tried to check each site out first to see if they had any 5T parts, but I might have let some that do not slip through.

I want to send this out to all that use any type of Offroad Vehicle, including our MV's. The few times a year that I get to go riding and camping with my son, we ride trails in the Kistachie national forest. There is always those out there that want to restrict other peoples freedom to live life...
Every state has different laws. Check with your local DMV and State Police. It might take a few tries to get the right answer, but make sure you can find a document in your states laws that you can keep in the truck, we have so many laws these days the guy that pulls you over may not know them all.
Welcome aboard! I always find cool armor at this site. Maybe when I hit it big I can get some light armor myself.

I' d love to have one for fun just like the Deuce, Daily driver I want a 3K Honda or Toyota with over 110K miles that gets over 30 MPG on the highway. A M1009 is a going to have problems not associated with milage, but age.
