Really frustrated. .M1010 and questionable work

The shop really messed up not contacting you after going over the estimate. True, book time is never accurate especially on older trucks. Yes, I'd charge you double if I ran into a problem fixing your truck. It is YOUR truck...I don't own it nor did I design it. But a good shop will communicate...

    M1009 alternator voltage step

GEN1 typically only glows during idle at full electrical load (heat, wipers, headlamps, etc.). Pretty normal and goes away as soon as you start driving. Even then it is pretty faint and really only notice it when dark out. GEN1 will light up or flicker if you have your idle speed set too low...

    Outfitting M1031 SECM

I will post up when I can snap some photos. Mine has been demoted to sitting in an apartment building complex parking lot pissing off the neighbors and detracting from property value...man I love that truck! I would like to see some M1031's in action with all the equipment listed on the...

    CUCV Front Winch Mount

I think it is a great idea and I'm sure the actual points of attachment will hold the force but I would be concerned with the leverage factor. The D-rings really have none. I winch has a lot. A winch tray typically spreads that out across the length of frame rail it is bolted to. That is my...

    CUCV M1028 Tach Assistance

I think a few of these good tach install threads would make a great sticky somewhere in the FAQ

    Rear Anti Sway Bar needed.

Wow, seems like an off the shelf solution to a rather common problem (which the OEM's have solved by using a rear sway bar) and we are into quenching steel, air bags, hydraulics, etc. Install sway bar, insert camper, go camping...live life before you die sweating the small stuff. Ever since I...

    CUCV M1028 Tach Assistance

Aside from the tiny tach and the autometer gauge that has a sending unit which wraps around the alternator, there is very little content on the internet regarding a proper tach install on a 6.2 engine. Good luck on your search and post up if you are able to make something work.

How to add a temperature guage

I think mine is a cheap autometer gauge. Installed with all of the supplied fittings in the driver side cylinder head all the way up front. I removed the idiot light sender since I don't trust it and would rather just look at the gauge.

    Rear Anti Sway Bar needed.

It's the advent of electronically controlled diesels. Ever notice that most of them are crooked flat cap wearing SoCal wannabees? Any moron can install a stack with a tuner and make lots of smoke to impress his friends and high school girls. Its rather pathetic. Kinda takes something away from...

    Rear Anti Sway Bar needed.

This is what Dodge claims for a 2wd diesel 1 ton: http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/towing_guide/?section=heavy_duty I wouldn't trust that truck pulling 30,000lbs as rated anymore than a Cucv with a camper body in the back. I wouldn't exactly claim any 1 ton from the big three is an engineering feat...

    Smoother Ride?

I'm not sure how air assist is going to help you if you are keeping your stock rear springs. Maybe a link suspension with air bags??? Either way, you need to get as far away from stock springs if you want a decent ride. Probably some half ton springs (probably going to move rear hangers to make...

    Rear Anti Sway Bar needed.

I agree you need to stay within the design parameters of the original vehicle but... Are you telling me that an off the shelf diesel 1 ton truck can SAFELY pull/brake/steer/avoid collision/etc with a 18,000+ pound load that they are touting these days? Some engineer came up with those numbers...

    Rear Anti Sway Bar needed.

I'd throw one on, most 3/4 and 1 tons have them from the factory. I have no bars front or rear, 4", and the M1031 body with the generator...a pretty interesting ride when cornering.

    Very hot resistor....why?

At that temp, you may get a slightly longer after glow :) If that's the case, the OP may just need to tighten is alternator belts. I wouldn't trust the GP card though. So I was walking around in the 70 degree t-shirt weather yesterday down here in North Carolina...

    Very hot resistor....why?

Good call, what is the weather like across the pond this week? I think you start to get that after glow when it gets into the 40's or lower. Your mileage may vary...plus you have that whole metric thing to convert to. Chip Chip :)

    Very hot resistor....why?

Obviously trying to diag across the internet is tough but it sounds like you have old slipping drivebelts and a glow controller than is cycling back on when it shouldn't be. Am I the only one that is reading that here? No one really has addressed why the voltmeter would go from green to red...

    Very hot resistor....why?

From your description, it sounds like your GP system is turning on after the initial cycle on start up. If the GP's come back on, your volt meter will go down due to electrical load. Your GENs may complain too if the truck is at an idle, belts loose, idle speed low, etc. That would be the only...

M1009 Axle Spline / Pinion Spline Counts?

You'll probably do fine then. Low spline neck down axle shafts in a housing that is known to bend under abuse going to a non-HD diff carrier with a drop in locker...usually spells disaster :) Run it!

M1009 Axle Spline / Pinion Spline Counts?

That's funny! I agree, pull the shaft first before you order. Confucious say 30 year old truck have many hands in it! Either way, I would probably shy away from a locker, especially a lunch box locker for a 10 bolt. The carriers are weak and the locker adds stress to that. The shafts are...

    Auxiliary light opinions/pics

Thank you for posting that up, very informative regarding DRL's. I just do not like how they have turned DRL's into being so bright that they need to be deactivated for the turn signal to work. Seems confusing and counterproductive. It grabs my attention which means it works but it also is very...
