Yup, I am a tractor nut, and I do bleed green. We have maybe 25 old John Deeres and still use them. A 40u would be a nice tractor to have though. Our utility is actually a ferguson 40.

If you don't do the above, then get some Firestone Destination MTs on 16 inch rims. There are still plenty of tires for that rim size, and are cheaper than tires for 17" rims. The Firestones are a classic mud terrain pattern, but they have a harder compound so they have been lasting longer on...
Been there, done that...sorta. A long wheelbase will take out some of the bumps though, not make it worse. We took a single axle dump (10 tonner) and tag-along trailer to IA and back. Did just fine.
Yeah, an MV will be worse, but I believe there were rougher spots, like Illinois, Indiana...
