    GL recovery. Your experiences plz

Like Warthog said , not many GL Deuces left , you would be better off looking at the classified here or a dealer . As far as condition of the vehicle at a GL auction , figure the worst , no brakes , fluids have been drained , no batteries , for the most part they are not "RIDE AND DRIVE" , plus...

Where do I look for the laws concerning this hobby?

A little more detail is needed , are you concerned about your town not allowing MV's ? If it is a TOWN CODE , I think you could do a web search of your towns bylaws . Just tell them is a FARM VEHICLE , LOL

    Fuel leak

Along with all the above , get your MV OUT of your GARAGE until you get a handle on your fuel leak . If you can smell a fuel leak , that could be enough for a fire or worse in a confined space .

m211 purchase - front drive shaft missing.

Not to familiar with a M211 front drive shaft , but if its standard U joints just have one made , it would be easier than trying to find a NOS or LKQ shaft .

    need help finding VIN #

There should also be a tag on the cowl that should match the frame # . If you find that , you should be good to go , get it verified by your DMV or a LEO and you should be able to get a reg and title . BTW ,You should do this BEFORE you start your restoration , BEFORE you spend a bunch of money...

    M939 Transmission problems

If after you check everything out , follow the TM's there is a procedure , that will help narrow down what is defective in the Alison . The unit can be rebuilt , BUT , BIG and HEAVY and you will require some special tooling . I think the bigger problem will be if you need a lot of HARD PARTS ...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

That is exactly what I was going to do , I picked up some nice Alloy 5/16" shoulder bolts from McMaster-Carr . I will drill them out , and use LOTS of NEVER SEIZE on the bolts ,should help tighten the hinge up also .
