ID turbo
Hello,
The whistler C-turbo is smaller and the two halfs are held together by a clamp, simular to an exhust clamp. The D-turbo is a little larger and the two halfs are bolted together. Changed several out from D to C to get the whistle, no differance in power.
Hope this helps.
M215 Dump truck parts
Hello John,
Good luck on finding those parts, I took me about 4 years to find the items needed to restore mine. Check the G503 forum under 2.5 ton trucks. last year a guy in New England (CT?) was selling a complete M215 in very good condition and a parts M211 package deal...
Hey SS,
Unloaded the new project today (AKA money pit), this should keep me busy for next 5 years. Kind of rough, but good drive train and frame looks perfect.

Air intake
I was at a local auto parts store that sales commercial truck parts, they had the elbow (4" exhust) laying on the counter. It gave me the idea of making the verticle intake. Used the same clamp as the original cap to hold to the air box, it is very solid and has not moved in over a...
M215 paint color
We are painting this one Lusterless Khaki OD #34087. I'm using creative liberty in my choice and wanted to do something different with a lusterless color. The semi gloss OD #24087 became standard in 54 or 57 (?), since my truck is a 52 I felt this was appropriate. I have...
Rapco
Just ordered paint today from Rapco! Try their on line ordering at www.rapcoparts.com. From what I understand from past conversations with Mark at Rapco, they are the manufacturer of Gillespie paint. The last two M35s I painted used 10-12 gallons (2-3 primer / 8-10 paint), but that was...
Hello SS,
Thank you to those who helped me understand what I was doing wrong on attaching pictures! These are some recent pics of the M215, it is almost complete. I was hoping to have it ready for Aberdeen, but to many small bugs to work out before such a long trip (5 hrs at M-series speed). The...
Hey SS,
I have been tring to post some pictures of the M215 dump truck, but no luck! These are jpg files, size is approx. 205-208KB each, they will not attach. This should be easy to do, so I assume I'm doing something wrong. HELP!!
Thanks, Karl
Thank you for the response!
I do run Dextron 3 in the tranny per Memphis recommendations, but still concerned about the whining noise while in reverse. I have not finished setting up the timing for best perfomance. Points are set at .016 with a feeler gauge and have been trying the distributor...
Hey SS
After working on the M215 for four years, it finally hit the open road this weekend. I did a couple short 2-5 mile rides and have some shift questions for the other GMC M-seires drivers. My truck is set up with a Memphis REB shift kit as well as a Memphis remanufactured tranny. When...
Hello SS,
Finally had some time to get the dump out of the barn to take some pictures. Almost complete, was hoping to have it ready for Abredeen, it will be close. I'm sure I'll have it together and painted before the show, but will not have enough time to some miles on it to trust it for the...
Hey fellow M- series GMC owners, just rebuilt the air pak in the M215 dump truck. As you may know rebuild kits for the 2.5 ton Bendix unit unique to this truck are difficult / impossible to find. After doing some checking, found out the Bendix used in the 5 ton is very simular, just a lot...
These are my covers listed on E-bay, the 17' cover is for the 2.5T M36A2 and the 800 Series w / 17' beds. I onlt have one or two 14' covers left for the 5T
