I need some help, guys.
Need to get a heater in my most recent Deuce.
I'm tired, & just can't figure out what is probably a simple problem.
I have a SouthWind model 10530A24, 30,000 btu heater in brand new condition.
NSN is 2540-00-113-4180.
I've got all the components hooked up on my test...
Here's a pic of mine when I first got it. I can't find the one of the rear door setup.
Note the round cap cut into the right side headlight cover. That's where the preheater connects.

My "arctic" Deuce has an insulated floor. There is a layer of 3/4 styrofoam covered with a layer of 3/4" plywood.
There is also a connection by the right headlight to hook up a heater to preheat the engine & batteries.
The cab heater is mounted under the dash, where it works a lot better.
I've...
Possibly useful info to consider:
My first Deuce came with the arctic cargo cover & multifuel cargo area heater. Seemed like a great idea.
Soon learned that the arctic cover couldn't readily be removed or even rolled up for parades & such.
Every bit a full days work. Real pita.
I took the cover...
Towing
1. Don't know of any tow bars for sale in our area. (I'm in Knox)
2. If I could really come up with a route where I could safely travel slow, I'd tow it if I had to.
But I'd rather put in some effort on site & drive it home if I could.

Finally working on the Mighty Mite "kit".
I've discovered I need a couple of things, & thought I'd check with you guys and see if you have, or know where to get them.
(Bensinger doesn't have them.)
2- #611 springs that hold the throwout bearing onto the fork
4- #2879 (short) brake shoe springs...
Okay, I know this is a long shot, but what the heck.
I have ALL parts necessary to add a winch to a Deuce, Everything in excellent condition.
I would like to get a COMPLETE setup to put a winch on my M813A1.
Anyone got a trade?
Thanks,

Welcome sirmrtow,
I live down in Knox, about 50 miles away. I'm currently at my office in Mishawaka.
Contact me if you need any info or parts sources & I'll help if I can.

M35 with generator, M35A2 & M813A1 with alternators all sit for a couple of months at a time with no problems.
If you don't have the expertise or time to find & correct the problem, use a simple battery disconnect switch.

Years ago we would rebuild master cylinders just like wheel cylinders. Not difficult.
I would guess parts would be available, or generic.
If I can get my hands on a loose one, I'll try to rebuild it.

I wonder if you dislodged some debris that is now obstructing fuel flow?
If your in-tank pump is working, turn on battery switch. Open petcock on primary fuel filter & see if you get a good flow .
If yes, then open up secondary filters & check for flow.
Etc.

If the problem is fuel related, it would likely quit "slowly" as it runs out of fuel. You might be able to keep it going by using the choke.
I'd start by looking for an electrical problem. Maybe a bad ignition switch or bad connections at the switch.
Not sure what is the exact route the ignition...
I guess my problem is similar to others', but not being a computer person I'm not sure.
I don't seem to be able to open links to past threads.
Example:

- Removing GL's markings from CARC
- Clinto's post
- tried to open...
I know there is another thread on this, but something about a "security token" won't let me search for it.
Several months ago I sent large Aervoe paint samples to the SEABEE Museum at Port Hueneme California, to try & determine correct color for VietNam era trucks.
Museum director says best...
I've been working on vehicles for 45 years. I always lightly hone wheel cylinders to remove any "glaze". Then after they are clean, you can feel for imperfections which may cause problems.
May not always be necessary, but sure can't hurt.
