    Tight Valves --- Loose Valves

I used to do a lot of work on Studebaker V8 engines with solid lifters. Always adjusted the valves with engine running. Much faster than turning the engine to TDC for each cylinder. Keeping the wrench on is not a problem. It takes a couple of minutes to get the "feel" of the feeler gauge drag...

    Suggestions on Large Tire Balancing...???

Curious, What kind of problems are you guys having, that indicates the tires need to be balanced? None are balanced on our 2 Deuces with 900-20's, or the M813 with 1400R20's. I don't notice any shimmy or vibration like I have in a car with unbalanced tires. Eric CBVET

Diesel --- Summer Blend Versus Winter Blend

I can understand how a lower-energy fuel can reduce engine power, but speed at a given engine RPM won't change. I guess you mean it seemed to take longer to get up to speed? Eric CBVET

    No brakes

If you're sure the linkage is connected, I really think you need to bleed the brakes. Either using a pressure bleeder, or the old pump-it-up & hold-it-down method. With pressure in the bleeder or the pedal pumped & held to the floor, you should get fluid out of the bleeders. As the fluid goes...

    Messages in my PM outbox

Kenny, Are you sure about that? I've got a couple sitting in my outbox too. Shouldn't they have been "sent" and identified as such, whether they were read or not? Eric CBVET

I put a similar hitch on a Deuce. Got it at a junkyard for $25, already taken off . Frame width is apparently quite common. Eric CBVET

5 ton/deuce airpack rear plug tool

For years I've had some 8-point sockets for square head bolts, drain/fill plugs, etc. Don't use them often, but they sure can be handy. Eric CBVET

    Master cylinder question

I've found that even though it may not feel like there is any pedal resistance, there is usually enough pressure to bleed the brakes. Fill it, pump the pedal, look for leaks. If no leaks are found, start bleeding. Pedal should start coming up. Eric CBVET

    What will your deuce pull?

I towed around 28,000 with my non-turbo Deuce. Did pretty well, but slow going. Only had to go 40 miles, so it wasn't that bad.Trailer had air brakes working. I don't doubt the truck could do it, as long as you're in no hurry. Eric CBVET
