I wonder who can afford them. $2500! Eric CBVET

    Deuce alternator

They ARE different than a 12 volt, in that parts can be hard to find, & expensive. Not all rebuilders will work on them. A big shop in South Bend said "$150 or so, IF I can get the parts". Eric CBVET

    Proper Installation of an Inverter

RE: Re: RE: wiring for 12 volt electrical with a 24 volt sys My inverter has an on/off switch built in. With it off, doesn't drain battery. I would surely add a switch if it didn't have one. Eric CBVET

    Proper Installation of an Inverter

My only experience has been on my '85 Chevy Step-Van. I used a hard wired 12v DC to 2,000 watt AC inverter for over 10 years with no problems at all. Eric CBVET

    towing M35 with M35

M1075 says "Be sure to have the adapters mounted "upside" down so they don't break." I don't know what you mean by that. I have a towbar which I haven't used yet, but would like to know the correct way to hook it up. Is it best done differently from the towbar manual? Thanks, Eric CBVET

    Goodyear Tread Pattern

Okay, now you guys have to keep a secret. You see my wife still believes I'm the sharpest man on Earth & I don't want her to learn otherwise. I guess the sun was in my eyes or something. I was thinking about the Goodyear tires & looking at the Michelins. The Goodyears are NOT directional. End of...

    Goodyear Tread Pattern

I just realized that the two 1400-20 Goodyear AT-2A tires I just got have a somewhat directional pattern to the tread. They're on 900 series wheels, both mounted in the same direction. I want to put them on the front of my M813. Is there a reason I would HAVE to turn one tire around, or is it...

    A couple of questions

Thanks guys! Apparently my speedometer is accurate enough. If I can run 50-55 I'll be quite satisfied. Eric CBVET

    More Tire Questions

As always, thanks for the info. The 900s still have the stickers on them & appear "fresh". Rubber still dark black. Stored inside I'd guess. The 1400s are kind of "gray" as is typical of older tires, but there is no apparent degradation at all. I'm gonna run 'em! Eric CBVET

    A couple of questions

M813A1 with Cummins. No sticker on tach. What's safe maximum RPM? 1400-20 tires, 151" to 152" circumference. What should vehicle speed be, say in 5th at 2000 RPM? Can someone tell me the formula for different RPMs? Okay, that's 3 questions. But I know you can handle it. Thanks, Eric CBVET

    Okay, on these I just got: M C2W VCOUO92. 1992? Also got a couple of new 900-20s. DOT# CF2F 792 0305. 1995? 2005? Thanks!, Eric CBVET

I don't know. There's no sign of checking or cracking. Is there a way to find out? Eric CBVET

    More Tire Questions

Got tires! Well, I got the 1400R20 Goodyears on 10-bolt combat wheels. Supposed to have less than 100 miles on them. They look good to me! Thanks for the help. Eric CBVET

    Field mechanic in Vietnam

RE: Re: RE: Field mechanic in Vietnam Sorry Phil, but I don't remember that particular truck. I left 'Nam in June of '68. I recall we had some kind of "road oil" truck too. I think they just dumped all the drained motor oil, hydraulic oil, brake fluid, & gear lube in it. It was a mess & it...

    Field mechanic in Vietnam

RE: Re: RE: Field mechanic in Vietnam KaiserM109 wrote "Blacktop!! All we had in the Delta was dirt and occasionaly gravel." That's because there were very few SeaBees in the delta. We were busy up north paving roads for Marines! Eric CBVET

    Field mechanic in Vietnam

I too was a field mechanic in 'Nam. I never heard of anybody doing this, but I guess it's possible. Our biggest threat when on roads, was mines. We were very watchful for signs of disturbed dirt or blacktop. Yes, the VC would bury mines in or UNDER blacktop. They would sometimes show up as a...

    More Tire Questions

Need help from all you tire experts. Got an option on 2 Goodyear 1400R20 AT-2A tires. Mounted on wheels for 900 series truck. Will these wheels fit on my M813, currently with Michelin 1400R20 singles? Will these tires work on the 20-bolt combat wheels? Would these Goodyear tires be the same...

Deuce with IHC cab - Pictures!

SeaBees got some International trucks in VietNam in '68. We had flatbeds & dumps. I didn't pay a lot of attention, but thought they were just civilian trucks. Eric CBVET
