Welcome Tom!
You're right, these old military trailers are really handy & tough.
If the trailer you're looking at is reasonably close to home, it's probably well worth $400.

RE: Greasing lunette rings
No way to get a swing at the pintle shaft on the generator trailer. Dolly wheel components in the way.
Had to use the gas wrench to heat the area & a lot of PB Blaster. Rocked it as Ace mentioned, & it slid out.
Cleaned & lubed with antisieze.
Should last as long as I...
Wanted to do a quick paint job on the wood sides I made for the generator trailer.
Took my Aervoe 987A sample to Lowes. Their computer color match was absolutely perfect!
Put about a quarter-sized dab of paint right on the sample. Looked like it was going to be too light. 30 Seconds with the...
Thanks Bjorn, Marti, Ace!
Based on what Bjorn & Marti tell me, I should be able to make a controller. I don't need the shutter cables portion.
Ace,
Based on what Bjorn has shown, please check & see whether you have something suitable, hopefully with that 6 pin connector.

Thanks for the help!
Does anyone know where I can get the control unit?
The two heaters I have are different models, but essentially the same. Both have the round 6 pin connector.
If I could get one, I could probably copy it for the second heater, once I see what the switches do.

Seems like most or all of the posts regarding fuel rate adjustments pertain to engines with turbos.
How about a non-turbo engine?
How can I tell whether mine is adjusted correctly?
Starts & runs great. Smokes quite a bit
Thoughts?

Bjorn,
Did you find that the heater needed it's own independent fuel pump? In my reading I found that some of the South Wind heaters have a built-in pump.
If one is needed, what are you using?
I've recently picked up another new one which clearly states multifuel, 30,000 BTU.
One of these days...
RE: how tight rear hub
Okay, I forgot about the wheel/axle hubs on the rear. Too much time in the sun. I just put some desplined front hubs on mine, & that's what I was thinking about.
Anyway, if you're trying to turn them without yhe brake drums for leverage, they would be pretty stiff...
I'll check sometime this coming week. If he has one, what shall I offer?
You'd just have to pay the cost & shipping, I don't need to make anything on it.

I was looking for deuce parts, so I didn't pay much attention to other stuff. The guy can be kinda hard to deal with.
I suspect some of the body parts may be "seconds" or otherwise surplus.
Can you give me a part number?
Are there different "models"?
I saw what looked to be new unpainted body...
I've come across a guy who has a lot of HMMWV parts for sale.
At a glance I saw mostly body components, but if anyone is looking for something specific, PM me & I'll check on it for you.

Thanks Gringel,
On the phone he says "It was new when I got it, but it's been sitting outside for a few years".
And he said $200. I'll have to look it over real closely.

I've talked to a guy who claims to have a new trans for a multifuel Deuce for sale.
I need to go look it over & get a price.
As always, I have questions for those wiser than me.
1 What's the chance I'll ever need it. Mine is fine at the time.
2. He says CHEAP. What would be a good price to pay...
RE: As is
A lot of the value is in the location.
Many guys on here would say $3500 was too much for the '52 Studebaker M35 gasser I have, but I'm happy with it.
Body perfect, runs well, needed painting & some brake work.
And it was 15 miles away!
Many of the great deals I hear about are in...
I mentioned in another thread that a turbo '66 multifuel I'm looking at seems to run a lot smoother than the one in my '70 non-turbo.
I always thought mine ran great, but now I wonder if there is something not quite right.
David Doyle suggested there may be a miss in my engine. How the heck can...
