Survey...... "oil line of death 3116" (governor oil feed line)

For those using the OEM line replacement and want to replace the straight and 90 degree fitting, the cost is about $20.50. I believe the part numbers are 6v8628 and 6v8647. I will double check those numbers tomorrow.

Survey...... "oil line of death 3116" (governor oil feed line)

Why would you want to connect it to the head? You want that portion as sound dead as possible. Connecting to the head will increase the intensity of the vibration. I'd anchor off something else and dampen the clamp inside with butyl rubber.

Survey...... "oil line of death 3116" (governor oil feed line)

I just put that part on yesterday. It's genuine CAT. After examining it and how it fits, I am going to replace both fitting at each end. I am talking to CAT this AM. The O rings appear flattened / worn down. Metric O rings did not fit theses parts well. Possibly SAE. Nevertheless, I am realizing...

Survey...... "oil line of death 3116" (governor oil feed line)

Exactly. Stainless strands vibrating on other strands can lead to failure. Vibration reduction is paramount. So is a low pressure warning system just after the tube.

    Drag link ends commercial part?

The only end is part #8. The other end is permanently attached. I have looked in the past, but only found the entire unit at around $500.

    M1078/M1079 for overland camper?

CAT parts for the 3116 are readily available Worldwide. These engines are everywhere and many are still used daily. Tires could be swapped with Continentals. Allison transmissions, I'm not sure. Cab parts often swap with Steyr, BUT not electrical. Unusual parts would require innovation and / or...
