I threw in a set of wellman glowplugs, pulled the nartron box and installed a push button to essentially jump the solenoid and give 24v to the glowplugs while the button is pushed. Works like a charm and the truck cold starts with no problem. Only issue is the truck isnt charging. Im guessing it...
Thanks for the info, ill swap in a new set and test the voltage to make sure its not getting constant voltage. Is a set of plugs from midwest military equipment quality stuff?
Hi guys, im just looking for some guidance with an issue I have with my 99' M1123 6.5l NA glowplug system. The wait light functions like normal but i still get a hard start/heavy white smoke on cold start with cold weather. Last winter I replaced all 8 glowplugs with a fresh set when the hard...
I guess my next move would be to replace the speed sensors just to rule it out. If that doesn't make a difference I'll look into an aftermarket TCM and harness. I'll keep you guys posted.
The only code it ever threw was 73 with the original TCM. That code is for the PCS (pressure control solenoid) circuit. Thats what led me to replace all of the internal solenoids and internal transmission harness. When that did not fix the issue, I found the troubleshooting manual online and...
Is this something a transmission shop would have? Or is that something the modus can do? Remember the only way I can read the tcm is through the obd1 port I wired up. I would imagine I can't do the normal things a modus could do with just that setup..
Initially the TCM gave me code 73 when I put it in diagnostic mode by jumping A and E on the 6 pin plug. Now, it does not throw any codes. I suspect that's because the TCM was unplugged.
I received and reinstalled my original TCM today. The trans light flashes like it used to, it connects to the modus scanner/displays live data and enters diagnostic mode when I jump pins A and E. The "remanufactured" TCM from module experts would not do any of the above. I swapped the eproms...
Ok, thank you. That answers my question. I just talked to a technician at module experts. They are going to send my original TCM back so I can swap eprom's but like you said it probably won't make a difference. But at least I will have all the original equipment back for the truck and I can...
Thanks for the input guys. Aftermarket has definitely crossed my mind through this whole mess. I'd just hate to deviate from the factory setup. One thing I noticed is the new TCM has eprom BKUL installed. From what I can tell that's for a 95-99 4l80e HD w/ 6.5l. The original eprom was a CZSU...
Unfortunately I did not get my old TCM back. I Have a call in to them and am waiting for a call back. Just to clarify, I replaced the solenoids and internal wiring harness after the transmission issue went from intermittent limp mode to limp mode all the time. It threw diag code 73 (PCS...
