Ran into the Guys at the Hub of Alaska in Glennallen tonight. It was a pleasure talking with you and I hope the Tai Food agreed with you...lol. What a sight seeing all that Olive Drab!!!

thank you. Too bad the sight is down, huh..lol. I googled your TM and found mass info on the maintanance, etc that I can use but not the actual removal of the crane driveline. I pulled the boot and some oil poured out and it looks like 6 or so bolts holding a cage for a ball bearing cv to remove...
Does anyone know the procedure to getting the driveshaft loose from the crane torret on M543/816. I need the shaft loose to machine it to fit my pillow blocks/sprockets. It looks like a bunch of ball bearings.
thanks for any help

here is a pic from this summer when we were adding the Zacklift. The downriggers are independent and will be reinforced pads with ice grips, etc. Three D-Rings will be welded on each. We added a Warn 12000lb hydraulic winch to the outrigger base up front for a sidepuller, with the same three...
Can anyone tell me which way the shaft going into the tortet goes on the crane wrecker? I finally am getting somewhere on my project and need to know what rotation for my PTO on my 1241C auxillary. Also let me know in reference to which way you are looking at it . Ref: from the seat or looking...
What is the gear deduction for a garwood 45000lb deck winch on a M819. I am converting it to hydraulic on my wrecker due to major problems coupling it; like no power divider and having problems getting pto for my 4speed OD Spicer Auxillary gearbox, not finding a reversible PTO
thanks
Patrick...
Can anyone tell me the PSI/GPM of the M816 Crane Wrecker Hydraulics. I need to tap into the existing lines for my additional winches. Has anyone converted the garwood 10,000lb winch? Any help would be appreciated
Patrick
Thomas,
I don't know if you can call it a living, lol, but we have the local tow company and also agent for the barge company. Valdez is the end of the Alyeska Pipeline from the north Slope so alot here work for Alyeska or are fishermen.

fits right in with my classic stuff. it's a 1969. I am going to change the Detroit to a 350 Big Cam Cummins, and put an auxillary gearbox with 2 under, one direct and an over behind the 15speed. Run my PTO off the auxillary. I have been told that is a power tower. It has 5:29 gears. A monster.
I Know anyone restoring their wrecker isn't going to convert to hydraulic but does anyone have the hydraulic motor, specs..etc to convert a Garwood 10,000lb winch to Hydraulic. What is the RPM the PTO spins at going into it so I can determine the right motor. My boom has two Garwoods mounted on...
hello,
I have been viewing the sight for a few weeks. Awesome sight with lots of info. I have a MB jeep and just bought a 69 KW with a modified military garwood crane wrecker. Have a collection of classic cars and trucks. Restore classics when I'm not towing.
