Need help identifying my new M-37 auction find

The bumper numbers indicate (probably) 50th Armored Division, New Jersey National Guard (the triangle next to 50 indicates armor) 250th Support or Signal (signal is more likely given the radio mountings) Battalion Charlie Company vehicle 22 50th Armored Division (United States) - Wikipedia...

    Manual M-37

I recently rewired my M37. If you have 12v, there are minor differences that will be unique from vehicle to vehicle depending on who installed things and what accessories they selected. If I had to do it again, I would have a much easier time of it, but since this was the first time I have...

    Model 28 Teletype

This seems to be a commercial model, but the military did use this model I think. I did find a gentleman that has paper manuals and other supplies like ribbons and ordered a set of manuals from him - Currently_available_Teletype_SUPPLIES_200602.pdf (w2jc.org) . Mr Cooper, another very helpful...

    Model 28 Teletype

After finding this device, I watched some youtube videos of teletypes interfacing with computers and (incorrectly) assumed interfaces would be straightforward. As swbradley1 pointed out, it is current driven signaling. Modern serial is voltage driven, there is no place to directly interface...

    Model 28 Teletype

More photos of this Model 28 wall mount Last thing it typed Maybe a news article? The inside of the typing area Keyboard appears sunken in the electrical service unit Power and 1/4in audio jack Empty envelope for spare gear made in 1966, gear isn't in it

    Model 28 Teletype

Very unlikely the Pi outputs that level, I may need some intermediate device. I see several refences to people connecting these to various computers, but have not yet found how specifically. There is a 1/4in plug which I assume was the original interface. It may contain the intermediate...

    Model 28 Teletype

I have been looking for a teletype for awhile, and found one that someone just wanted rid of. It looks complete and in decent shape. It still has the last thing it typed, which looks like a news wire. Unfortunately, it does not have the date, which would have been a neat bit of info. I don't...

    Steering knuckle

Bigger hammer :3 Picked up a 3lb hammer and this got the dowel to move. Chewed up the pin punch, but I didn't want my hands anywhere near this Got the knuckle split and this made getting a blind hole bearing puller in it easier. NAPA apparently loans tools for a deposit, which they...

    Steering knuckle

This is true, the retainer can be twisted and removed. I was afraid of deforming it this way, but it seems fairly resilient and I noticed no deformities after this. The seal does appear to be mushed up/deformed and did need replacement, but it wasn't disintegrated like I have seen other felt...

    Steering knuckle

Grease was coming out the sides of the knuckle on the inside side, where it looks like a sphere is at the end of the axle. There is a felt seal there and if its ever been serviced, its been decades. Watsons Wagons is messing with knuckles so Id thought Id give mine a go. I found this helpful...

    M37 switch conector.

I recently redid my connector - Rebuilding the 3 lever light switch connector – Stickelman.net In your description, are you saying that the dashboard light connection is disconnected and thus not working? If you want to have dash lights without disassembling the connector - which you can...

Getting behind or under the dashboard M35A2

I really appreciate your documentation of repairs, just fiddled with steering box while watching that video this weekend too. I have watched several of these videos to give me an understanding of what to expect when doing maintenance. I am not a mechanic, but I am able to do some of these...

M37 DUAL MASTER CYLINDER PART NUMBER

M37 Master Cylinder (uglytruckling.com) I have this installed in my truck. I ordered a NAPA 1980 Chevy C30 master cylinder, I am pretty sure I got NMC M2135 but I don't have the receipt anymore.

Getting behind or under the dashboard M35A2

After getting confirmation that tach is safe to disconnect, I removed the instrument cluster. It isn't straightforward really, but its easier than spelunking. The 4 flat tip anchors that hold the cluster on are easy enough, and you get just barely enough clearance to reach the speedometer and...

    Electrical system

This project was successful in that it works and I think it will be durable. I am not completely happy with the outcome, it isn't as tidy as I would like. I can fix this problem, but ill save it for later since I do not have any vulnerable wires and it functions. Ill waste some connectors...

    Electrical system

Got the last of the connections made and tested, to my surprise everything works. I used garden hose as 'conduit' for the wires going to the tail end. The old wires were rubbed through in spots, the hose should protect the new ones and I will lash it down more securely. I wouldn't recommend...

    Electrical system

Attached is what I ended up with, can anyone review the fuse selections and recommend changes? These are my best guesses and I am having trouble finding references.

    New2Me 1961 M37

I am not a mechanic, but this is what I would start with Compression test at some point, but maybe you don't have enough speed going from 2nd to 3rd? These trucks are a bit finicky, took me a bit to get used to shifting them (hopefully) appropriately.

    Electrical system

Thought I would show AF8 tool use, the 4 way crimper, on packard shells. This covers the 'male' end, ill post females later. This seems correct, based on looking at disassembled originals, but if there are errors, please do correct me. The rubber shell goes on the wire first, followed by...

    M56B1 questions

Looks like its coming along well, its good to have help. The details really slow everything down, but I am just slogging along knocking out one segment at a time on my project (electrical).
