I have a 1984 923 & I need a dump truck. The cheapest way to go & have a dump truck is the conversion for me. I already own the truck, checking out the EBay 10 ton kit for like $2K - thinking of remove the bed & flip it over, buy some 2x4 or 3x3 or 4x4 square stock thick wall. Mount the hinges...
I have a 923 & I’m planning on doing the dump conversion. I’d like to keep it looking as stock as possible. I had contacted a local truck fabrication shop, they said they have done a lot of these. Conversions for local onion farmers ( they only use Military trucks) in the Black Dirt area of Pine...
Looks good, very nice. The hoop you built is to keep the sides from spreading under load? Would like to see pics of your hoist mount under bed & rear hinge set up. Thanks
Couldn’t open link - I already own a M923A - so that is what I’m working with. I do notice with these a EBay kits - I don’t see any bearings @ the hinge points of hoist or rear hinge. I realize these are cheap kits for light use - maybe equal to low end dump trailers. But better than shoveling...
I did notice that in these pictures the hoist is mounted on cross member between rear wheel pivot point - which is like 7’6” +/- / this would give you a dumping angle of over 50 degrees maybe closer to 60 degrees. I think this gives a steeper dump but at a loss of lifting capabilities. Bit again...
Doing research on this looking at kits on EBay PH516 is the 8 ton kit & PH520 is the 10 ton kit. The kits run $1500.+ to $1800.+ - seem fairly easy to install - I have M923A with a 14’ bed. Would like to have appear as close to stock & not really obvious a dump truck. Historic plates &...
M1008 - So stock tires are 235/85R/16 - I want to run my stock rims, I don’t want to cut my fenders, so what is the largest size I can run? I’m considering 255/85R/16 - will they fit without rubbing. I bought a set of super lugs, they rub! I don’t want to spend $2000. On a 4” lift. A new set of...
Fresh diesel, new injectors & new injector pump. All adjusted, engine runs good. I’ve driven this truck & had it in 5th chugging along to make sure tranny works, than back to 4th than 3rd. This truck flat out going down hill hit 41 mph, I was the chase vehicle & that’s what my speedo read. Could...
