We left Southeastern CT at 0630, made it up to Ft. Drum, and as far back as Albany before we decided to call it quits. Will post some pics when we get home tomorrow.
I picked up one of the -803's from Ft. Drum, boy did the bidding go crazy in the last few minutes.
Anyway, I am looking forward to picking this thing up, going through it, and see if I got a runner - I hope so considering the price paid.
My plan is to run a conduit from the machine to the basement, about 10' max. This will contain all of the sensor wires for parameters that I want to monitor and they will connect to the Arduino. The Arduino will be connected directly to my home network via an Ethernet shield added to the...
I've ordered the components he calls out, as well as an Ethernet shield so that it can be connected to my network. I plan to add oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, frequency, battery voltage, and maybe eventually work on a remote push button start feature.
I don't plan on overloading the generator at all. I am starting to work on an Arduino based monitor so that I can keep an eye on critical parameters from inside the house.
1800, if you're talking about operating a -004 or -804 in 120/240 mode, you need to make some physical changes on the interconnect board to re-wire the 12 lead generator head to low-zigzag mode. Look at sewerzuk's excellent thread and videos on how to perform this semi-permanent modification.
I am looking at starting with this setup as a baseline, especially since he has done all of the hard work in the coding and is freely offering it:

I currently have a 5500w generator running to 30 amp Gentran panel, so it wouldn't be too hard to do what Ratch is suggesting. I'm thinking that is the way I will go. Something like this should do nicely...
I don't use the heat pumps for heat in the winter time. I have large pellet stoves upstairs and down to handle winter heat. I am more concerned about having AC in the summer - SWMBO has severe asthma and heat and humidity is a trigger for her.
Bunkerbuilder,
If I go with an -803, load management is clearly an issue. It would be easiest to install a 200A DPDT manual transfer switch between my meter and service panel and use the existing breakers.
But if you look at what I listed for loads (forgot to mention electric range and...
I'm not against an 805, it would be much easier for the wife if she loses power in the middle of the night when I'm at work.
I guess I will have to see how the outcome of this auction goes.
So I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a -003 or -803 in an upcoming auction.
I am am wondering if this transfer switch setup would be sufficient for one of these 10KW generators:

Would I be better...
So when I look at the weight label for a M929, it states:
Total LBS 25,888.
Seems to me that would be the GVWR and no CDL required here it CT since it is under 26K.
This is from CT DMV website:
When do I need a Commercial Driver's License?
According to federal rules, you need a CDL to drive...
