I finally got everything i need to turbo mine too... only problem is its winter now and i need this truck ready for snow.. After reading this though im thinking of maybe putting a few extra hours in after work everynight to get it done
Finally got mine running after 2 years of having charging issues. Also put 2 new front u joints in it, tranny filter and gasket, oil change, and a good interior cleaning.
Well the day has finally come. The truck runs! Called a local rebuilder here and he was able to get me the fiber washers and the bolt isolators among other misc things i needed. Went home, rebuilt it and voila! Not only are my GEN lights coming on and going off like they are supposed to, but...

I use these daily, they save so much time and are not expensive at all. Simply fill the funnel with coolant( 1/2 to 3/4 of the way in funnel) and let vehicle run, once it gets to operating temp and no more air comes up, your...
Bleed the system, put a bleeding funnel on it and let it run for a good while. until no bubbles come out. Shut truck off and remove plug for funnel(which should come with it) and put the rest of the coolant in the overflow. One other thing, are you certain you put the thermostat in right?
Ive thought of selling mine a few times. I bought it almost 1.5yrs ago and it still doesnt run. Has charging system issues. Besides all that there is a love for these trucks that cant be explained. Nobody has them. They arent flashy, they arent up to date, but lets face it.... They are cool as...
I agree.. let the frustration pass.. That engine even with hand tools is a 4 hours total job. Even if you put a few hours a week in it to get it done, youll be glad you did!:)
Well i finally know whats wrong, missing the isolation parts but at this point i have to have this truck running in the next 2-3 days... Im just kinda screwed here. Partly by sitting on my you know what for over a year on it and now with the help of the great people of this site i finally know...
I got some pics that ill post tonight, at this point i might be better off putting the driver side alt on the passenger and buying a cadillac driver alternator. Im missing atleast 2 bolt insulators and that jumper wire.
Ill have actual pictures of mine tomorrow in the am.
I have pictures of somebody elses online here and...
Pic.1. I made the wire i dont have yellow in this picture. Can i make this wire? If so what gauge is it?
Pic2. I see i dont have fiber washers under my rectifier which im going to...
took the alternator apart just to make sure im 100% on my fiber internal washers and i was. as looking on this site however i noticed that on the inside, the capaciter goes to the rectifier which i have but i seen on some alts on this site theres another black wire that goes where the capaciter...
Thats the best news ive seen in years!.. cant wait to get home and try this out. Im feeling very confident now. So i need to find a fiber washer somewhere(which store), then run an 8gauge red wire to positive terminal board, red/white to this ground stud on alternator and then hope for the best.
Rebuilt passenger alternator, installed 2 new relays. Now i got a GEN2 light on. Never had that in the past. GEN2 light stays on all the time though and still no rear battery charging. Im going to trace all wires on the pass alternator now because im still melting terminals. Would not...
Im going to give this a shot, i rebuilt my pass alternator xmas eve, installed 2 new relays. One of the relays was totally missing this whole entire time i owned the truck! My own stupidity for not checking. Now i do have a GEN2 light but its always on and never goes out. Still putting out...
