I've got two of these m1009's, just bought the one with the broken bolt because it's not rusted out like my other one. Was going to swap the engines anyway, but have never done that before. So I have a question about pulling the engine, can I do it without taking the transmission out with it...
That's what I'm afraid of, but I won't be able to weld a nut to it since it broke deep in the bore. Think I'm gonna wait for the flute style ez-outs I just ordered.
I've spent some time reading through the threads on how to extract a broken bolt, all of which have been helpful (learned some tricks).
However, I believe my situation is unique in that the previous owner used RED LOCTITE on the bolts because they kept falling out and he didn't know about the...
Yeah, I really don't want to put the money into this engine as I plan on doing a 4bt swap. I just did the electric fuel pump upgrade and it made a huge difference, unfortunately it ran great for about 10 seconds but it exposed a weakness in the IP seals. The throttle shaft seals started...
Yeah, after doing a bit more research I decided that if it's rusted I'm just going to replace it with an MST plastic one. Now I need to figure out if it can be converted to an in-tank fuel pump...
Mine primes while I'm waiting for the glow plugs. No work. Easy.
Again, it's not an "electric LIFT pump," it's an inline push pump.
It's not magic. To each his own though.

Well, it's not an electric lift pump, it's an electric inline pump. Sometimes new tech is better than old and I believe this is the case here. The electric pumps make it painless to prime the fuel system, especially after changing a filter. They start pumping before the engine...
This may be my problem as well, I was having fuel issues with a leaky lift pump. I just replaced it with an inline electric pump but the engine still surges and bogs. I noticed that when I'm going down hill, or right after I brake hard, 3-5 seconds later I get a nice turbo surge. I believe it...
Yeah, it was really helpful. I ordered the LMC truck harness last weekend and waiting for it to arrive. All the contacts in my fuse box were dirty and/or corroded from the previous owner- he must have ran the truck through a mud bog. There was mud under the dash, on the harness... EVERYWHERE.
The fuse did not blow, it just got too hot and melted the plastic. I was only trying to jump it to see if the fuse box was still working, had not planned on leaving it in there.

I really appreciate this thread and the other sticky, I just wish I would have read them earlier. My headlight fuse fried 92 miles from home, at night and I had to wait 2 hours for a tow...
