Did you find the LED Replacements brighter than the Sealed Beams to justify the different in price?
What is the exterior lens cover made of? Glass or Plastic?
Thanks for sharing your experience with these!
The law seems pretty clear. However, Harris County - Houston Texas was having a absolute fit when I went to register my M101-A2.
I had my printouts showing the purchase, and the GovPlanet paid invoice required to pick it up. It showed the size & weight to the trailer, the type & S/N, and...
WOW - to give the money back, after the lady had red lined it up the freeway to haul her stuff, smoked like a fiend in it, and then trailer it back was way beyond. That she mucked up the truck with cheap - bad fuel was frosting on the cake...
He's a better man that I if he refunded her after...
VERY Cool!
I have a 1993 GMC K2500 5/4 ton 4x4 former Navy sort of C.U.C.V. "1.5" (no black out lights or grill guard, but pintel tow hook rear bumper, in cab 24 volt converter with antenna connections for .MIL radio, PS / PB / [ but No A/C :-( ] with Detroit 6.2 Diesel & 4L80E transmission on...
Friction Modifier is only needed for Positraction Limited Slip differentials. The Detroit Locker is mechanical and runs regular fluid without need for the special lubricant for the clutch packs that the Positraction has.
Thanks very much 98G.
Quick Question for anyone out there.
How do I find / who do I need to contact to find the Final Drive Ratio off 4th / OD on my 4L80E?
A general internet search gave .75 for the Final Drive - don't know if there is any variations off the "military" versions or not.
That...
I have a question about vehicle speed.
I have a 1993 NAVY C.U.C.V. 1 1/2 (not the original and not yet the CUCV II.)
6.2 Diesel with 4L80E Transmission with factory 4.56 gears on 285/75R-16 BFG All Terrains.
WHAT highway speed can I reasonable cruise without overspeeding the Diesel and...
I've run the 235/75R-16 with no issues on M101A2 fully loaded (+++ ).
The 235 does lower the trailer height, and with the same load rating you are not giving up carry capacity.
Since it isn't driven, it doesn't affect anything really except for height.
These don't feel at all like Canvas.
They feel like a Polyvinyl (a bit stiff).
I'll see if I can find a low pressure pressure washer along with some suds on the end of a long stick for some rub & scrub...
Any suggestions about replacing the rotted / busted tie down ropes?
Hey All,
I have a couple of the desert tan flexible "prairie schooner" soft tops that fit over the sidewalls & top bows for my M101A2 trailers.
These look like they sat in water outdoors for a while and have both some rust marks and some mold marks, but the material is still seems good.
What...
Hello All,
I have an 1993 Ex-Navy GMC k2500 4x4 that has recently started giving me drive-abilty problems.
When I accelerate at moderate speed / throttle settings, the motor sort of goes "flat" and doesn't want to accelerate, in fact if I had to name the feeling, it feels like a gas motor does...
It depends on the tire size too. I went a step "bigger" to 285/75-R16s (largest tires that will fit without a lift) so I could feel comfortable at 60 on the highway. I usually shoot for a 55 cruise, but 60 is possible without feeling I'm thrashing the engine. Due to the gearing, it doesn't...
I have 3 to pull Texarkana to Houston so getting three on the trailer instead of two is a huge plus. How did you get the tongues up? Two or three strong guys to lift it? I'm pretty stout and strong and lifting the tongue end to drop it in a pintel isn't easy, much less going over head...
Hey All,
I am heading to pick up a trailer and I have a question about grease and wheel bearings.
I know these trailers have been sitting in the environment for a long while. I have a long drive back, so I'm concerned about the grease for the wheelbearings.
How difficult would it be to...
I'm heading up to pick up some trailers and this thread has some great information
Quick Question - is the Lug Nut used for the M101A2 Trailer Wheels the same lug nut used as the CUCV / K2500 GM pick up?
