I have a couple industrial Hawker batteries for my off-grid solar. These could be a nice addition to help power our equipment as well.
Thank you Hawker (www.hawker.com) and www.steelsoldiers.com!
Hello again. I thank everyone again to those who helped me in identifying a new to me engine. I have finally looked at it to get it to run. I have changed oil and all of the filters. I replaced a damaged oil pressure gauge as well. I adjusted the valve clearances. When trying to start the engine...
Noted! And will do!
I removed the engine from the back of my truck. After unhooking it from the tractor, I checked the oil. The level is slightly below full and pretty clean. I did, by hand, pump the fuel pump and fuel did push out the return. I also, checked the throttle linkage for freedom of...
I know the previous owner attempted to start it. There was fuel on the floor and he stated it did pop when starting fluid (YUCK) was shot into the intake.
My 002 was positive ground. I am sure of it because I remember it going against everything I knew (at the time) to hook up the two...
Looking through the service manual at the injector pump, there is a difference between the pumps. for the DJB and DJE. The DJE has the injector lines side by side at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions on a flat plate and the DJB has the injector lines at the 2 and 8 o'clock positions on a conical...
Thank you for your assistance. The engine has sat for quite some time. The previous owner tried to start it but there was no ignition. There was fuel in the return line so something was pumping, maybe not enough to get the proper pressure to the injectors. The manual will certainly help.
Thank you very much! I was thinking it was...poked around after posting and it looked similar. At least now I can purchase filters for fuel, oil and air. It is really odd though that the output shaft is not a tapered shaft and that it is huge for a smaller engine.
I purchased an diesel engine not knowing what I was buying because I figured it was a bargain. I thought I could search online once I found the block number (3381), I would find the model, manual and all would be dandy. Not so! I searched and cannot find the engine model. I tried searching on...
Thank you, that makes things clearer. I am a one man shop, so could I use a single VFD or soft start large enough for the largest motor in the shop until I can build/buy one for each machine. for the soft start this would not appear inconvenient because it sounds like there is no interaction...
Currently, I have a MEP-802A, Onan 6.5 Gas, Onan 4.0 gas, Honda 2k and Ryobi 2300 but know I need a larger generator to power some larger machinery.
I will have machines for working with both metal and wood. So far the motor with the highest inrush current is a 208V, 3 HP, 1735 RPM, 8.2A, code...
I plan a workshop where I have larger 3 phase motors that need high current to start but very little, in comparison, while operating. I do not wish to operate a generator at 1 gph when the generator is at 10% load or less.
Generators can run for hours with less than proper load. The engines do...
Thank you for your replies. Our situation here is a permanent one. We do not want to be grid-connected. Our photovoltaics, solar water heaters, wind power and generators all need to be properly sized for us and our needs. If not, they may be too cost prohibitive for us to change once we are...
At my shop I believe I will be the only one working and maybe my wife. Shop lighting and small hand tools will be on battery. The wood shop's largest single tool is a planer @ 3 HP with a 1 HP vacuum system. The metal shops largest motor may be 5 HP. My air compressor will be a gasoline engine...
I thought about something like those. But they are not as portable and efficient as my gas generators. It's nice to be able to pick mine up with one hand to put it in the truck. Plus, mine output 110 Volt for use in the field to operate small air compressor, saws, drills and if need...
Thank you for your post. The more I read, the more I understand. I just finished a post about fuel consumption between the 802A and 803A. in this post,
Korgoth1 in another post that states:
"In my experience, the gallon an hour for every 10kw load has been very close. So close in fact you can...
I see a trailer mounted 30kw military generator . This is much larger than I need, but was wondering what the fuel consumption of such a generator would be at say 1/4 load? It's current bid of $1,500 seems very reasonable if you need a generator of that size. AND a trailer.
EDIT:
Sorry, a...
Northern NY in summer, with a 1800 photovoltaic watt system providing electric cooking and AC during the day (with vigilant timing) to keep our camp cool enough until dinner time. Induction cook tops are wonderful! Winter is another story. We receive little sun, a good little generator is a...
I really appreciate your input. I'm glad I'm not in a hurry to do anything. I have much to do before I need to make a decision.
I talk to a home shop machinist and he says his power bill is comparable to other home owners power bill and he uses mush more power. He says the USA is messed up...
