You make it sound so enticing.
I planned to get a set of chains, so I will start there and buy lockers next year if I find that I need them.

Huh, I hadn't thought about that.
Do you know what model axle/diff these have sp that I can look into how much the selectable lockers are actually going to cost me?

I love this list, thanks for all of the effort!
One improvement that I would find useful is to put a description of each component next to the group. For example under engine put GMC 302 inline 6. In the transmission put Hydramatic xxxxxx. I was hoping to find what differential is in these...
I purchased my M211 for snow plow usage and because of the open differentials I see a potential for getting stuck.
I have heard you can get Detroit lockers for these, but they cost something like $600-$800.
Has anyone welded their gears inside their differential? I would only drive the truck...
I'm realizing these are hard to come by. The person that owned my m211 before me converted to 12v, bit I want to take it back to 24v.
Is the 24v ignition coil for an m35 the same as what I would need for the m211?

I apologize if this is a duplicate thread, but I have searched with no real clarity found.
Are all 7" housings/bulbs the same? I want to swap out some led bulbs into the stock housings, but who do I know if they will fit?
Also, are the stock headlights 24v or 12v? If they are 24v I will just...
Does anyone know about led upgrades for the 7" rounds? I can find lots of them on amazon, but want to make sure they will fit in my 1953 M211. Any way to know that, or are they universal?
I know I would have to run an inverter to drop down to 12v, bit that's not a big deal.

Thanks for the feedback guys. He is definitely a fun to watch professor (even if he did say um a lot). I actually emailed him to ask a couple more questions and compliment him on the videos and he responded within 5 minutes with more information. He said that was truly a fun project for him...
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum, but I thought I'd share an amazing set of videos I found regarding the Hydra Matic transmission, it's history and function, and assembly. It is all done by a professor from Weber State University in Utah.
Enjoy!
