Well the auction itself says it was made by Turtle Manufacturing, so I would go with that. A brief search indicates that Turtle was making them in the late 1980s, so I would go with 1986 or 1987. Otherwise, yeah.
The M101A2 I bought from GL has no data plates and no manufacturer or year was...
How high does that Harbor Freight jack raise the lunette? I had a bit of a challenge finding a jack that would raise the lunette of my M101A2 high enough to couple to the pintle hitch on my pickup.
Here is my M101A2 trailer with 315/75R16 tires mounted on 16x8 wheels with 4.5" of backspacing:
They fit just fine. You'll have no problem with even smaller tires.
This thing fits like a glove. The bracketly puts the bolts immediately above and below the tongue frame rail. I purchased shorter bolts than what came in the hardware kit for a cleaner install and used a conduit clamp for the intervehicular cable.

Hitched up to my truck:

I apologize in advance if resurrecting an old thread is a violation of forum etiquette, but this thread came up in the results of my search for an appropriate wheeled tongue jack for my M101A2. And being as no pictures appear to have been posted, I thought I would share my recent addition...
In the regard, you're the one claiming that your booty rigged set up is perfectly fine just because you've never had an accident with one.
Yeah, like no one has had an accident occur because of some jerry rigged hitch setup.
If you don't care about this stuff, why are you even bothering to post about it?
I think you have pretty good idea of how often the average person checks their hitch mounting hardware, yourself likely included subsequent claims notwithstanding: Not all that often, if ever. Which makes advice to...
How often do you think the average member here gets up under their rig and thoroughly examines the condition of their receiver hitch and it's associated hardware? How often do you do that on your personal vehicle?
Correct. I used that term for a reason.
Doesn't matter how much you tow if...
Don't forget that the additional leverage could cause the receiver itself or it's mounting equipment to experience catatrophic failure: Splitting like a banana or breaking lose and allowing the trailer to intrude into the vehicle cabin. Does anyone here think that a vehicle like an Xterra or...
Stock heigth F-250. Not even mine. I think a minor contributing factor may have been that the 33" tires on it were D Rated. I won't run anything less than an E Rated tire on my Dodge CTD. Again, for safety reasons.
Do you always get so defensive when your OPINION is challenged?Very telling.
Yes, I have seen enough reports of them bending to consider it relatively common enough to reconsider the idea of using them in in that specific application. As for looking up the manufacturer's recommendation, that is...
Interesting thing about that engineering: Of the 3 sources of 12" plates that you mention, one list the maximum rise as 6" and the other two make no mention or recommendation of their product being used for rise. Perhaps you are assuming too much about what they are engineered for. You could...
Yeah, we already had this discussion on another site. You never did show them being used in the most extreme ways you say are safe. You have a good point about needing to use a correctly sized pintle. But running with considerably mismatched geometry, all sorts of extra forces are still being...
