Took the humvee on the highway today, first time since the 6.5 turbo went in. Drove almost 50 miles, ran great, sounded great, I couldn't have been happier
Then a connecting rod blew through the oil pan.
I don't know if I want to scream or cry
For what its worth- I just thought my heater motor died and started looking for new ones. After looking over my heater, cleaning the grounds, adding dielectric grease to the connections and making sure they were all strong, it worked again **. I also had a lot of mud built up in the hoses, maybe...
Thank you, that is what I needed to know. Why could I not find a diagram showing the reservoir and the cadillac valve?
You had told me a couple months ago to do the 200 amp, it will be done this winter. I have already started gathering supplies.
This is the reservoir I have that I do not see in the diagrams with the Cadillac valve. No one else has this? Is it an older version? first time with a picture, hope it works
Yes, the same one as you posted earlier in this thread. It does not show an oil reservoir though. And it shows three lines coming out of the pump. My pump only has two ports.
This diagram does not show a power steering reservoir mounted. Mine has a reservoir. My pump only has two outputs. So where your caddy valve comes from pump, mine comes from the reservoir. Right or wrong? Am I not supposed to have a reservoir with the Cadillac valve? If I did I imagine I'd need...
That is what I am trying to do. However searching the TM's I can't find the correct way for it, I can find a diagram of the routing with the cadillac valve and without a power steering reservoir and one with the power steering reservoir but without the cadillac valve. I can't find any diagram...
I'm still having this issue of blowing hoses off. I have too much pressure. I cannot find anywhere in the TM's a diagram of the power steering hoses that include both the power steering fluid reservoir AND the cadillac valve. Everything was plumbed back the way it was but I want to confirm it...
I'm having a similar issue right now, PS fluid blowing out at the fan clutch where the O ring is. I recently did the 6.2- 6.5 swap, I replaced the TDM and the cadillac valve. After testing I'm getting 130-140 pressure going to the fan clutch. For you it was just a bad cadillac valve? Is that...
Yea, I get that, my question more was more between an AO, A1 or A2. I know the main difference between the other hmmwv variations was the upgraded 6.5. After some more research I don't think the M1038 was ever manufactured with the 6.5- is this correct? It only had the M1038 and the M1038A1 in 1994?
I know this is an old thread, maybe someone can answer though. The variations are body types- correct? I read through the link, but it mentions the engines. In my case- I had a 91 M1038 with the 6.2 now after replacing the engine with the 6.5 my variation is the same?
I was stopping to look at Trailers today in Orleans MA. I noticed two Humvee's in Cape Cod Truck Shop next door in Brewster. Are they yours? If you see this, please reach out, I haven't seen any others around and have some questions. I assume they got worked on there, good place?

Outcome: Finally got some time to do the pressure test, but never got around to it. I pulled the oil pan and saw one piston was scored on the outside. Push rod was bent and twisted. Seeing this I don't know what failed since I never removed the head covers but I'd guess it was the gasket. It...
I did check the dipstick first, it showed a very milky, chocolate milkshake looking oil. I was hoping it may have been something so simple. Do you suggest a drain everything, fill it up properly and run it for a while and see if I have the same situation before pulling everything?
Ken, Did you...
I know this topic has been spoken about, I've read through it. I have a '91 M1038 6.2 and still very new to me.
I drained the coolant and was very surprised at how little came out, a little over a gallon. As I was draining the oil the other day the first few seconds was pure green...
Hello, got word this week my EUC cleared for a M1038 (2.5 months). Now I need to get it from Arlington, Virginia up here to MA. Any recommendations or advice?
