Anybody use a u-joint press to remove u-joints from the transmission-to-transfer driveshaft? If so, what size press did you use? It looks like the intermediate press (class 4-6 u-joint) would work since the bearing cup diameter is 1.562, but wanted to check before I bought one to try. Thanks, DW
I'm working on restoring the original mirror set up on a '70 deuce and I'm looking for the lower support arm (red arrow in pic) for the right side. Does anyone have an extra one for sale? Thanks, DW
Thanks for your suggestions! I've gotten a couple of replies to check the timing first. Apparently these engines are very sensitive to timing. I'll also check the accelerator pump. Unfortunately I'll need to wait a little for the weather to warm up. Right now is -5F!!
I have a Chrysler 251 in my M37 along with the original ETW1 carburetor. There seems to be a flat spot when the accelerator is depressed too quickly. I'm trying to figure out if the vacuum power jet is clogged, or if the carb is just too small for the engine. Ideas? Thanks, Dale
I'm rebuilding a differential carrier for my M35. I need the machine key that joins the ring gear to it's shaft on the primary reduction (part 7521791). Does anyone have a good parts source? Thanks, DW
Thanks for the replies! I also appreciate the other advice as well. Looks like I'll need to find someone in my locale that has at least a 50 ton press. DW
I'm working on rebuilding a differential carrier for my deuce. I've been following the TM and so far all of it has come apart without any problem, except for the ring gear in the first reduction. The TM says to press the gear off of the shaft but doesn't include any details. I've tried using...
Anybody have a good method of removing the torque rod off of the spring anchor? The nut was easy to get off, but the tapered shaft doesn't want to budge.
Thanks for the photo! My 37 isn't Canadian, but I was able to to modify the frame cross-member to accommodate the forward engine mounts. I was also able to locate a couple of pictures of the Canadian hood. The hood exterior is the same as the standard series. However, there's a slight...
I'm in the process of installing a 251 in my M37 with the Canadian radiator. Looking at a few of the past posts, the Canadian M37's had a modified hood to clear the offset radiator. Does anyone have specific information, or pictures of the modification? Thanks.
I replaced the 5.83 axle gears with a set of 4.89 gears in my M37. Does anyone know what drive/driven gears I need in the transfer case (NP200) to get the speedometer to read correctly? Thanks.
I'm puttine a 251 engine in my M37. Does anyone have a picture of the front engine mount used in the Canadian M37 variation? I need to fabricate a mount and would like to use the pic as a guide. Thanks, DW
I'm restoring an ETW1 carburetor, and I'd like to have it re-plated with yellow chromate. I've seen a few carburetor repair shops advertize this service. Has anyone out there had this done to their carburetor? If so, how did it turn out?
Does anyone have a modern day equivalent Moog or NAPA number for front tie rod ends for an M37. 1968 WM300 is suppose to be the same, but can't find a number for that either. Thanks.
