In regards to the battery compartment straps, I must be looking at a different photo than the one posted. This jeep has the thumb screws, hinged grill and short front bumper (no hole). In 1952 some had shorter bumper with crank hole left over from the M38 production.

Redoing my parking brake system on the M38A1 and while looking at new brake linings noticed that AJP is selling the "Always Missing Warpy Washers" that apparently hold the brake shoes in place.
