Part 2
Final fitting of bed.
So I put the bed back on and realized that the puck locations were above flush with the raised corrugation of the bed floor.
Original plan was to build shim packs to bring each location to flush. Measured each and started shimming.
Then decided that was...
Had the bed off my M1008 to replace the fuel tank and add a second and decided it was a good time to install a gooseneck hitch. Well, since the correct hitch for this vehicle is something like $500 and requires drilling, I figured any hitch would be about as easy to install.
Started with a...
I am thinking they are 3/4-18 inverted flare. I believe these are the fittings I was told to order to replace my oil cooler lines.

Great video, thank you. I am looking at doing something similar. Did you happen to make any more adapters from that length of pipe you bought? The engine I bought came with the center mount turbo and I was considering cutting off the part that feeds into the intake and working from there.
I...
Was kind of waiting for further instruction (to replace the 2 defective glow plugs) but I went ahead and did it anyway. Both tested bad out of the vehicle as well. This can be considered resolved. Ambient temp of 78 and fired right up with no pedal. Mr Barman, thank you for the mentoring...
Relay is cycling and new filter is ordered.
I went ahead and started it today without using the pedal. Temp was about 85 and it took about 5 seconds of cranking before it would fire and 8-10 before it started.
All are new except the fuel filter. I had to use it on my 87 and haven’t bought another yet. I’ll get it ordered. Starter is a Powermaster that spins it really well.
84 CUCV will not start unless I give it 1/2-3/4 pedal while cranking. Once started it runs fine. None of my other diesels require any pedal. Any idea what is causing this and how to remedy?
Thank you! that helps a lot. That tells me that power DOES indeed travel through the BO switch and also tells me where to jumper. I'll work that tomorrow and update.
New CUCV owner but not new to MV's.
Bought this 84 M1028 a few days ago. Ex fire dept truck. Wiring has been butchered and hasn't ran in at least 2 years. I repaired the starter wiring (relay mod) and some other repairs and was able to drive it off the trailer. Now I'm working on the other...
Glow plugs ohms 1.3-1.4. Manifold heater shows similar but shows about 1.0 between the adapter plate and the glow plugs.
I don't have equipment to check the compression. send me a link to the tools and I'll get them.
Bought my MEP 003 a couple of months ago. Test fired it a week later. Little hard to start but once it started, it ran great. Hard wired it into my house. Read a recommendation on this forum that said to replace the glow plugs. Did that and it started much easier. Did my monthly test in...
